They just cancelled the Mick, Brooklyn 99 and the last man on earth.
Fox will go down as a network that really cancels excellent shows just to make room for crap shows that only last 1 season. Luckily other fox cancelled shows have been picked up by other networks. Futurama, American Dad, Arrested Development, etc.
I hope Hulu or another broadcast network picks these shows up and renews them. Especially last man on earth, you can’t just give us a cliffhanger like that and then cancel the show.
Maybe they did it so that they could make room for yet another talent/singing/dancing/cooking/survival reality show.
Also, none of the shows mentioned have Steve Harvey on them so their demise is eminent. As we all know, Steve Harvey will eventually be on every TV show in the near future.
I would feel partly to blame since I do watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but on Hulu, but apparently Nielsen is able to track Hulu views for current shows, so, not my fault!
.
Thank god Brooklyn 99 may be saved. That show is consistently clever and funny.
I do worry about last man on earth. You can’t just have a cliffhanger like that. Hopefully even if nobody picks up the show, they will do a movie like they did with firefly after fox cancelled it. I want to ensure the cast ends up somewhere happy.
It was still poorly rated. It was simply the highest poorly rated live-action comedy. It was doomed from the start. I like it, and I can’t have things I like.
I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but your post seems to be based on the (erroneous) assumption that the purpose of the television network is to provide you with quality entertainment.
It’s not.
The purpose of a television network is to make as much money as possible by selling people like you to advertisers. Americans are, by and large, people with shitty taste. That’s why, when they replace Brooklyn Nine-Nine with something incredibly mediocre, it will probably make FOX more money. They’re not cancelling it just to spite you; they’re cancelling it because they figure that it’s not the best way to invest their money.
Honestly, that’s for the best. I’m still pissed at how shitty a show they managed to produce with such rich background material. I shouldn’t expect Neil Gaiman’s pleased with it either.
