Fox is intentionally and gradually shifting away from Trump

‘Fox & Friends’ host Steve Doocy calls out Donald Trump: ‘Why did he have all that secret stuff at Mar-a-Lago?’ (yahoo.com)

I saw that someone had posted the above link on another thread and thought it might be a good idea to assemble all evidence here of recent shifts in Fox policy to question and/or criticize Trump.

This should be interesting to watch (from afar) as it plays out. I hope Fox and then hopefully OAN and the other like-minded stations do move away from Trump.

If only the GOP would.

I feel like this has been happening since the election, or at least since J6, and all it’s seemed to do is convince the MAGA crowd that Fox is now fully part of the MSM and OANN and Newsmax are the only trustworthy news sources. But also, all of these major news outlets are losing influence to social media grifters.

You’ve got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run

And pushing CNN to want to try and appeal to Republicans to try to capture those leaving Fox. And I think it will fail, because (former) Fox watchers have spent way too much time vilifying CNN as being biased brainwashing, while those who were watching CNN object to the change and have started #BoycottCNN.

Poor Steve! The Deep State has gotten to the Douch Duce!

This reminds me of the whole Gaddafi thing with the “line in the sand”, which kept moving. So your favorite news source starts saying stuff you don’t want to hear - you abandon them for a news source that does say stuff you want to hear. Then, that news source starts saying stuff you don’t want to hear, and you make another move. Rinse and repeat. Just a thought: perhaps it’s not the information being shared that’s the problem here?

Vilified or not, I really can’t recommend CNN as a news source to anyone.

I am curious about this new NewsNation that I’ve been seeing popping up, here and there. Until now, everyone has always had to recommend Al-Jazeera for unbiased news.

This has been going on for a while. On July 29, The New York Times reported (gift link), "It’s been more than 100 days since Donald J. Trump was interviewed on Fox News.

The network, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch and boosted Mr. Trump’s ascension from real estate developer and reality television star to the White House, is now often bypassing him in favor of showcasing other Republicans."

NewsNation, which was originally a spin-off of the cable superstation run by WGN in Chicago, initially positioned themselves as “news, with no agenda,” and were overtly trying to find a space to occupy in the cable news category that was different from Fox, CNN, and MSNBC.

But, within about a year, they changed tactics, due to low ratings. They hired former Fox News exec Bill Shine, their evening lineup is now primarily personality-driven opinion shows (they also just hired Chris Cuomo), and the network is now seen by many as having a conservative bent, despite continuing to promote that they present “both sides.”

For a little reference:

In general, these people seem fine:

And these ones seem pretty far from crazy righties:

Rupert Murdoch prefers to favour winners. He didn’t get where he is today without being able to judge which way the wind’s blowing.

CNN.com at least seems to be staying anti-trump for now. I love articles like this that call out his hypocrisy:

Is there a cable or satellite television company that still carries OANN or Newsmax?

I wonder if Doocy realizes that as the guy tasked with the early stages of the shift from Trump, that he naturally is the guy the network can get rid of it this shift away proves problematc.

Newsmax got big on satellite and is still available on DirecTV and Dish, as well as a bunch of major cable providers. OAN is more niche and they got dropped by DirecTV, but I see that I can still get it from one of the major cable providers in my area. Only one though and definitely not the top ones.

Oddly enough, Newsmax is available in the UK, as one of the options* on a data channel buried down the bottom of the EPG on the terrestrial broadcast platform Freeview

*Which include assorted holy roller and foreign language services, among them France24, which is how I stumbled on it.

Rats abandoning a sinking ship.
