Fox is intentionally and gradually shifting away from Trump

‘I never thought leopards would eat MY face,’ sobs Trump who led the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.

On Wednesday, I watched about 5 minutes of the Fox News Show, The Five.

It was sort of interesting. The discussion, at least the part I watched was focused on “This was a win for Biden, and it pretty much guarantees that he will be the candidate in 2024”. And they did not seem happy about this, although Jeanine Pirro, who appeared slightly drunk, managed to use the word “basement” at least three times in each sentence while discussing Biden, and comic wannabe Greg Gutfield, gave a nod to the conspiracy theorists by claiming the Democrats would engineer Covid-24 (har har) just so Biden would be able to campaign from his basement.

They didn’t talk about Trump much, although one guy on the panel kept talking about how much he really liked him, and the generic blonde du jour said she though his time was done. But they always came back to Biden, and how they didn’t want him to run in 2024.

They reasons were twofold. The first reason was that he usually manages to sound lucid (their word) when he speaks, although they implied that their was something nefarious about this. The second reason was, dammit, people just don’t HATE Biden hard enough. Sure, they chant Fuck Joe Biden and they hate that he kicked Trump’s ass, but he just doesn’t inspire the kind of obsessive living in your head HATE that liberals have for Trump and conservatives have for Hillary, in fact, he manages to deflect that kind of all-consuming hate. The conservatives go through the motions but they just don’t FEEL the HATE hard enough. And conservatives really want a candidate that their base loves to hate.

Then I’d had enough and I changed the channel, but it was interesting.

Thanks for listening in and taking one for the team. Please rest awhile while your vapors subside.

So I guess they were really saying that he isn’t black enough (Obama) or liberal woman enough (Hillary) to really hate because damnit, he is a white guy. How dare he use his whiteness to disarm us!

On might think they’d be happy if they inspired a, shall I say, murderous rage from at least one of their viewers.

So, according to the conspiracists, cooking up a pandemic helped Trump lose an election, but would help Biden win one.

Says a lot about conspiracy theorists, doesn’t it?

Interesting. Pretty much exactly why so many of us voted for Biden in the 2020 primaries. It’s apparently paying dividends in 2022 as well.

(I wish we didn’t have to do this – I’d be all for a presidential candidate who’s Bernie Sanders and Ilhan Omar’s love child – but the reality is, we must…although at some point we can’t use “must beat Trump/must save democracy” as an excuse anymore).

Yeah, it may not be too long before there is no democracy left to be saved.

Of course not . . . we have to save ourselves from what the conservatives/Republicans want this country to be like, and that should have been the rallying cry for the last few decades.

Minutes before Trump announcement, DeSantis receives standing ovation at Republican confab (msn.com)

This sort of Fox headline and topic has become increasingly common.

I posted this in another thread, but Fox News included a not-so-flattering photo of Trump in their coverage of Trump announcing his third “presidential” run. They will pivot back to their butt kissing of him once it is clear he is the R candidate.

In 2016, I saw exactly one mass media report on Gary Johnson. A fly flew in his throat as he was talking, or something, so he went from talking to looking strange all of a sudden, and it was amusing to watch. Outside of that, the media simply didn’t cover him. There was never any look into his platform, any of the stuff he said when he didn’t have a fly in his throat, etc.

Between Johnson or Trump, Johnson was a far more reasonable candidate. He was even a former popular, successful, Republican governor. There was effectively no reason that he couldn’t have been considered the “real” Republican candidate in the race and reported on as such, while ignoring the “joke” candiate, Donald Trump.

But, if everyone refuses to cover the guy and, instead, covers Trump then Trump becomes the candidate. CNN gave Trump billions of dollars worth of free campaign contributions by covering him instead of covering Johnson.

Likewise, here, if Fox covers Trump then whether they’re rooting for DeSantis to win or lose, they’re helping to boost Trump. Likewise, if CNN is covering Trump more than they’re covering DeSantis, then Trump has two sources of large “support” for his campaign.

The guy has stupid hair because he was taught as a kid that there’s no such thing as bad publicity in business. Decades later, he was elected president. No one has proved the wisdom of his financially successful parents incorrect.

If Fox doesn’t want Trump, they have to report on him the way that the media reported on Johnson. SImply ignore the guy. If you can’t - and Trump knows how to make it impossible to ignore him - then you’re going to boost his chances.

If only MSNBC and CNN could do that same!

" Florida Man Makes Announcement; details page 26"

(thanks to the New York Post)

That was sincerely the funniest thing I’ve seen all day, and I chuckle every time I read it.

That’s the way to report on a nutter. Treat him like a joke afterthought candidate like that crazy man who runs every 4 years (can’t remember his name, proves the point, I guess).

ETA Vermin Supreme, that’s his name! I had to go look it up.

As soon as FOX sees viewers going to other hard right news sources and the resulting drop in ad revenues they will go running back to DJT as fast as they can. The GOP and right-wing media backed off for a minute after Jan 6 but they all went running back as soon as they realized the base was still with him.

They did this during the 2016 primary too, when they’d often bring people on to criticize Trump and try to support ANYONE else in the republican primary. But once he had the nomination, they fell 100% in line with supporting the orange-faced Neanderthal. It will happen again. If you really pay attention to Fox News, and not only the sporadic criticisms, they are still 100% supporting a radical Trumpist worldview. Where every conservative white man is a victim and the true liberal agenda is to destroy Christianity and surrender our country to illegals pouring over the wide open border, handing out fentanyl to the kids as they stream in.

Awkward moment Fox host tells Lara Trump that Donald Trump has ‘lost his old magic’ after 2024 launch (msn.com)

Which she of course denies. I particularly like this bit:

“Even those who might not like his tweets and personality, I think would be much happier to pay lower gas prices, to be able to afford their groceries, and to have a better trajectory for their lives,” she added.

We already have a better trajectory for our lives, dim bulb. But yeah, throw all the Bread and Circuses at the red states and you can shovel all the undesirables you want into the ovens.

Until the Powers That Be run out of undesirables. Then, autocracy being what it is, the PTBs will have to find new undesirables — which may include you.

The POTUS is not responsible for lower gas prices, cheaper groceries, or people having a “better trajectory”. The countries with governments that do try to control those things are big-S Socialist, like Venezuela. So, Lara, are you suggesting that Papa-In-Law is running as a Socialist? (I think even Bernie Sanders would object to that level of government control over everything.)

I will not believe Fox is shifting away from Trump unless they get rid of Hannity.
