San Francisco’s channel 2 is a Fox network affiliate. We used to watch their local news for preference just because, but we haven’t for a while because another channel seemed to have a little better, more thorough coverage of local issues.
I remember defending Channel 2 local news a couple of years ago when one of the news anchors made some kind of gaffe, and a poster here said (approximately) “what do you expect from Fox News” and I pointed out it’s not Fox News, just a Fox Network affiliate.
However, this week I happened to tune them in, just at the end of a national feed story that featured Tucker Carlson interviewing some guy who finished up what he was saying with “we were standing up against Federal over-reach in mask mandates.” Then, not 5 minutes later, they had another national feed where the commentary and the only person interviewed talked about how badly Biden is handling Afghanistan, with nothing on the other side. To his credit, the local anchor seemed a little uncomfortable after both of these (perhaps I imagined this), and in fact did a counter to the first story immediately after it.
This left me wondering if the Fox network is pushing Fox News more into local markets through their local affiliates. Is anyone else noticing this as a trend?
Not really, the Chicago Fox affiliate mainly covers murders, weather and sports. All the local news shows seem identical except for Channel 9 WGN has the best weather
The Minneapolis/Twin Cities Fox affiliate has the best morning news, because it’s mostly, you know, news. And it’s nice that in Minnesota you can get an updated weather and traffic update every ten minutes. I haven’t seen any political bias in their coverage.
Is the local fox channel in SF owned by Fox? Just like ABC/NBC/CBS some stations are network owned, some are affiliates. I think most smaller markets are affiliates.
That’s what I usually watch, too.
However, when they do the national sound bites, they can be Fox foxy, such as today blaming everything in Afghanistan on Democrats.
