Fox Network, oh the irony...

I can’t help but wonder what the hell is wrong with this network. They won’t show a 21 minute cartoon in which an evil, futuristic Santa performs violent acts on equally futuristic, not to mention fictional, characters and yet we get this:

  1. “Married…with children” - in the middle of the “Cosby” decade, we get the raunchiest TV family ever seen. (note: I like the show, just making a point)

  2. Inordinate amounts of “When (nouns) (verb)” type shows.

  3. Assorted police video shows in which REAL PEOPLE do horrible things to other REAL PEOPLE.

C’mon Fox, make up your mind.

Not that this very much similar, but this reminded me of when “The Last Temptation of Christ” was about to be shown on cable, and Cinemax refused to show it, saying it didn’t have artistic value.

You know, Cinemax, the cable channel often called “Skin-a-max” because of the plotless soft-core porn on nearly every night…

[Homer]Mmmmmmmmm…plotless soft-core porn…[/Homer]

Wow, I smell a pit thread…

“When Pizzas Explode”
“When Copiers Pollenate”
“When Briefcases Flee”
“When Blueprints Ejaculate”
“When Models Tuckpoint”

Ok, I’m kinda sleepy. I’m sure there are better examples in YOUR cerebral cortex, I just had to say this.

[sub]sorry 'bout the hijack, couldn’t resist… You’re right about Fox though. Apparently content doesn’t appeal to the Springer crowd. [/sub]

And in the coup de grace of idiocy, they also bring us Fox News, a network wher pundits sit around all day being horrified at the types of things being shown by…Fox.

theres’ a whole thread for fox-ified madlibs over in MPSIMS.

Fortunately, after the deabcle of “Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire”, FOX decided it would no longer show that kind of programming and take the high road from here on out.

I don’t have a watch with a seconds hand, so I couldn’t time how long that lasted.

What is the 21 minute cartoon?
sounds like fun.

Futurama, I presume.

At least it’s airing in the US…

(But a channel 7 rant is another thread)

It is an episode of Futurama. A sorta sequel to their first Christmas show. As yet unaired.

Ah, you have to applaud their local news, though:

Find out about the horrible disease that could be killing your children RIGHT NOW! Tune in tonight at 10.”

On the subject of When Nouns Verb shows, let us not forget their cousins, the World’s Adjectivest Nouns programs…

[Futurama]
“It’s the season finale of ‘Single Female Lawyer.’ Wanna watch?”

“Nah, I prefer shows of the genre, ‘World’s Blankiest Blank’.”

“Well, if it helps, she’s wearing the world’s shortiest skirt.”
[/Futurama]

What is this referring to? Fox is refusing to air a Futurama episode?

I love Futurama - and last years Christmas was a classic. “You better not breathe, you better not move. You’re better off dead, I’m tellin’ you dude. Santa Clause is gunning you down!”

Of course, they destroyed Santa last year (not that continuity has much place in Groening cartoons).

I work for a FOX affiliate - I don’t know of when they have pulled an episode of Futurama.

This is the US you are referring to, right? Or perhaps you are talking about FoxNet in Oz.

They are owned by the same company but are programmed completely differently.

Please clarify.

Lovable Rogue

“Tick, THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS
“I know. ::sob:: I killed him!”

Wasn’t that on Fox?

It was the ep “A Tale of Two Santas” which, according to several episode guides, was never aired. It was replaced by the first Christmas episode. In fact one episode website shows it as being part of the fourth season.

Some help?

The fact that is was never aired doesn’t necessarily mean that Fox refused it. Can you point us to some article that makes this claim?

Also - didn’t they just end their third season? If this episode is listed as fourth season, I’m not too surprised it hasn’t aired yet.

well, I’ve seen it in Ireland, and usually our shows are a month or two behind.

It was originally scheduled to be aired on Dec. 17, 2000, but was pulled in favor of the first Christmas show.
