While we’re on the subject of inappropriate news coverage: I was channel-flipping on Tuesday, looking for different camera angles, and happened to go by Faux, something I don’t normally do. The caption along the bottom of the screen: “Denny Hastert, Trent Lott taken to safety”.
Well, it’s very nice that the Speaker of the House and the Senate Minority Leader are in good hands. The top government officials should be, of course - whatever you think of the person, the office needs protection. But they didn’t mention the titles, just the names, and nicknames at that. And where, pray tell, was any mention of where the Senate Majority Leader was? Could they have overlooked mentioning him because he’s a Democrat? Could they have even brought themselves to say those maddening words “Tom Daschle taken to safety”, or would they rather have chewed broken glass first?

Channel flipping says it all! If you are constantly changing channels you can’t say, without reservation, that mention was not made of the Majority leaders safety.

Hastert is in the line of succession to the presidency, while Daschle is not. Neither is Lott, but he has to be preserved as an example of really silly-looking hair.

FoxNews - hmmm…this is the network that regularly has Geraldine Ferraro on as a guest? And Patricia Ireland? Charles Rangel? And so many others Democrat figures? I just saw Gephardt in an extensive interview with (I think it was) Brit Hume yesterday. It was a very good interview, and I enjoyed hearing Gephardt’s point of view. Hume seemed to be appreciating Gephardt’s point of view too.
