I just watched the American League Championship Series Game 5. Anaheim won 13-5. this is Anaheim’s first pennant in their history. Not that I am a particular fan of Anaheim, but certainly of baseball in and of itself. But,
At the end of the eighth inning (played at Anaheim, so Minnesota bats in the top iof th 9th, and Anaheim doesn’t have to bat in the bottom of the 9th if leading) Fox sports went to
COMMERCIALS TOTALING 15 STRAIGHT CONSECUTIVE MINUTES IN A ROW WITHOUT AN INTERVENING PERIOD OF BASEBALL!
When coverage was resumed, Minnesotas had two outs and the batter had a 2-1 count. The batter flied out and Anaheim won the pennant.
I watched it local in Minnesota, (well semi-local, on channel 9, the local Fox station, not the cable Fox Sports), and I got the entire inning. In fact, we had just the opposite (unless I wan’t playing attention) no commercial break between bootom-8 and top-9. We saw the pitcher walking in from the dugout and everything.
It was the worst coverage ever! I mean, sure, I knew we (anaheim) had the game wrapped up, but dangit I’ve waited 30-something years for this. I wanted to see the locker room celebration and the presentation afterwards. I’m surprised they didn’t cut to commericial during the interview with Kenedy.
(I was watching the local fox network, not fox sports) GRUMBLE!
sx633, where are you located? The Man Who gives us a hint about how it may have worked. In my market, during those 15 minutes FOX TV network went to the beginning of the SL/SF game. It still would be kind of daft to somehow work things out so you’re blacked out of both games at the same time…
