Fox TV, Fox News, take the pledge.

Not sure if this is the right place or not, if not send it off to where it belongs.

I’ve always mentally separated Fox News from Fox TV, mainly because I enjoy so many Fox shows. However, I’m basically so pissed at all the Fox News lies that I have decided to boycott Fox TV as well as Fox News. I feel that by watching Fox TV I am implicitly supporting Fox News.

So no more House, Glee, Simpson’s, Hell’s Kitchen…etc for me. I have lots of books to read, movies to watch and interwebs to search. No more tithes from me to Fox. Join me or not.

I wish I could, but Fox airs too many NFL games.

St. Louis Rams, here.

Hmm . . .

And there are Simpsons repeats on the local ABC channel

Hmm . . . Hmm . . .

But the local news on the FOX channel stinks.

Hmm . . .

But so does the local news on the other channels.

Hmm . . . Hmm . . .

I’ll think about it.

If you stop watching they will be picked up by another network.

NO MORE FOX!!!

Why would I do something so incredibly, massively silly?
That would be like boycotting NBC just because MSNBC is so incredibly left-wing.

OK, I’ve thought about it. I’ve decided that I should boycott Fox News by not watching Fox News. Which I already don’t watch. So I’m good to go.

By the way, sinjin, are you also going to not watch your local Fox Sports channel?

Heh, that’s easy. I have no interest in sports at all. Except for the Cubs and I know how that ends without ever watching a sports channel.

I also don’t watch Fox News, but don’t think it’s enough anymore. Oh well what the hell, the power of one. channelling Arlo

I would note that MSNBC is way-fucking-way less Left Wing than FOX is Right Wing.

Every single one of their commentators regularly chuft at the administration. Except maybe for Ed Schultz.

Does MSNBC’s left-wing agenda infuriate you as much as FOXNEWS’ lies infuriate me? If so why don’t you boycott NBC?

Why go with the flow? Are we so addicted to our TV pleasures that we put them above our principles? Is TV so important that you are willing to accept and both tacitly and financially support views that are anathema to what you believe? I’m not willing to do that anymore. YMMV.

The actual significance of the whole thing is just too minor for me.

For me, it comes down to importance and significance of the issue to me. I’m not a big news fan because I don’t think the most important issues are regularly covered. I only watch Fareed Zakaria on Sundays and that is it.

In terms of news stories, the main one I am interested in is sex slavery in Cambodia and Thailand and what can be done to stop it and rehabilitate(if possible) the girls victimized by it. It’s more important than any issue being talked about on the news channels.

It just, to me, makes Fox News and the others seem rather silly.

As for the Fox network, I watch Fringe. That’s it, I think.

I don’t watch NBC. Does that make you feel better?

I’ll take the pledge by default. Just disconnected the dish after 10 years - only radio and Netflix.

My wife and I only watch about 4 “actual TV” shows. It’s not that hard to avoid Fox.

Again, Fringe…and what else is there? I do catch COPS in re-runs, but it’s not a first run kind of show.

I mean, what does Fox actually air? American Idol? What else?

Find out who sponsors the Fox programs you are boycotting… then send them emails (with cc to Fox) explaining what you are doing. You can extend the boycott to the sponsor’s products as well.

I think that has some potential to influence.

I’m in – this is an easy one. I gave up on The Simpsons a few seasons back, and there’s nothing else I ever watched on Fox.

Please don’t tell me Fox owns HBO or ShowTime.

Good suggestion, will follow up on it.

Too late! To figure out who Fox’s sponsors are, you’d have to watch Fox.

No way, Jose.

Naw, you could ask some [del]unsuspecting smuck[/del]friend to watch it for you and keep track of the commercials. Or, since you are mostly promising not to watch Fox shows, you could set up some DVR to just record the commercials. It’s not until you boycott the sponsors that the commercials would have to be off limits.

Isn’t it was against the rules to try to promote boycotts, etc?

I’ve been boycotting ALL the major networks, all local affiliates, all pay-per-view events and channels, and all the other cable and satellite channels for more than 20 years now.
