France invades SW London - Google says it's true

According to the Google Zeitgeist page:

What gives? I know the might Google can’t make a mistake, so it must be true. Has the London burough ceceded from the UK and formed a trans-Channel alliance? Has the tennis tournament moved to get better weather? The teeming millions need answers.

Apparently, they found an old document that proved they’d been ceded to the Duchy of Burgundy, and … no, wait, that’s Pimlico.

I also wasn’t aware that late June = “spring”.

Maybe it am in Bizarro Wimbledon?

No, that sounds about right. You have to realize that the English “summer” lasts for about 15 minutes.

Yes, but it’s the 15 minutes just before Wimbledon starts. Then, of course, it’s monsoon season, which lasts until the end of the tournament.

You are reading it wrong. It is the Brits that have invaded Paris, not the other way round.

Whichever was the true story, the invaders appear to have retreated. Google now claims that French Open takes place in Paris :frowning:

That was probably down to me. I e-mailed Google and , in their reply, they said that they would correct the error. Once again SDMB fights ignorance and wins!

I live near the tennis courts (which are in Southfields - not Wimbledon) and we are certainly not over run with Frenchman or (more’s the pity) Frenchwomen. There is quite a nice patteserie though.

However when it comes to bloody South Effrikans it’s a different story.
