Hai! I can haz hollo kost?
Encountered this thread through a google search of Fatima prophecy(last 24hrs). Wanted to add the following, so I registered:
- La Salette (mid 19th century) prophecy states: “everything that I say to you here will arrive in the other century after the year 2000” (I promise that’s an accurate translation from the original French).
- Fatima (1917-____): I figure many of the Fatima supporters are upset with the interpretation that the Third Secret predicts the beginning of world war III for the end of the 20th century. (the Neues Europa version(1963) of the secret states that a big war happens in the 2nd half of the 20th century). I truly believe that part of that “extract” version. However I have always been convinced by context and the evidence that the true wording of the Secret is closer to “a great war will “comecara”(Portuguese for commence) at the end of the 20th century.” I believe the 1999 NATO bombing was that start. <= No one bothers to suggest other alternatives in any of the forums.
- Only two months ago(aprox) I discovered a prophecy from about 200 years ago from a Catholic seer Nun (her name is not important here) that sheds light on (1) and (2). One of her visions pertained to the 21st century and the end of the 20th century. It starts off with the booming voice of God saying “woe, woe, and woe to the last century.” With that vision she was actually made to doubt, YES in the vision she was made to have DOUBT whether the judgement arrives at the end of the 20th century or in the 21st century.(she states about the judgement arriving at the end of the 20th century: “Our Lord made me know, and yet I doubted…”) Nevertheless, she writes “if” the judgement comes in the 20th century “it will not come UNTIL LATE(in the century).” She claimed the vision made her understand that the 21st century(century from 2000 on) will not pass away without the Judgement happening. She also states that God revealed in the vision that the judgement would NOT arrive in the 19th century, nor as already stated, would it arrive before late in the 20th century. (The Judgement she refers to pertain to all the devastating misfortunes during the global punishment prophesied by many visionaries over the centuries). (I used books.google.com and other language versions of the site to verify this prophecy for the 21st century and end of the 20th century existed in actual books from many decades ago…with findings on websites you never know).
The concept of “delayed Judgement” is also mentioned by some of these visionaries.
To recap:
these prophecies, if authentic, indicate clearly to me:
-the beginning was prophesied to happen at the end of the 20th century
-the beginning would be OBSCURE and DOUBT would surround the beginning events towards the end of the prior century.
-the complete fulfilment happens in this century.
Can you name any time in history where these vague and open ended prophesies wouldn’t seem to be true?
Trust me: NOBODY here is taking you seriously, except maybe lightunknown.
Nah, a bunch of us just have quick minds to see through nonsense and nimble fingers to put our beliefs on the internet. And you can’t discount a fast connection.
nothing vague about the 3-days of darkness, the night illuminated by an unknown light, the deaths of millions upon millions by the hour, entire countries swallowed by earthquakes, the degree of persecution foretold against Catholic priests, a Russian empire ruling all Europe, a Pope in hiding, a Pope that bleeds in every country hated by every group but cannot be killed, world war beginning in “__”, etc, etc. But that’s my expectation, I don’t speak for others.
Those prophecies clearly indicate the same thing to me, too.
That is, if they’re authentic.
Which they aren’t.
Very fortunate; since there’s always someone expecting the Apocalypse any time now, there’s always someone who won’t be taken by surprise, therefore the prophecy can’t ever be fulfilled and the Apocalypse can never come!
One strategy that has been employed with great success is to have someone somewhere to declare that today is the day when Jesus is coming back. That way, Jesus can NEVER come back. And this approach has worked perfectly for centuries now.
I also have an elephant repellent spray that I can get you for a fair price.
100% Guaranteed (subject to certain restrictions, please see our website for more details).
It’s a good idea, but I think Penn & Teller already trademarked it.
I was going to ask what picture would go with that caption, and then I remembered this…
greenlife, you have interesting posts to share with us, and certainly a nudge-nudge-wink-wink username, but I think you might have misunderstood the nature of a board called The Straight Dope. As did my sister once when I said she should go check this site out and she replied in an annoyed tone ‘Can’t you ever stop talking about drugs?’
But never mind, greenlife. If you have any more of that, er, green life on you, I’m sure we could arrange some… transaction.
Peace, dude.
You will have my abject and most sincere apology for doubting you as soon as any two out of three of those events happen. Until then, I shall smile politely and steer the conversation to less, well, crazytalk.
According to the Gospel writer the world was going to end in The first Century. Jesus told the apostles the Sun would not give it’s light, the stars would fall, the moon would turn to blood etc. and is quoted as saying,“this generation will not pass away until all this has been accomplished”. Since it didn’t happen in that generation then the early church decided it must not have had the same meaning for the word generaton as we think of it today, but Matthew used the same word for generation when he wrote, there were 14 generations between David and Jesus. Something is either mis-translated ot made up,or even Jesus didn’t know?
The gospel writer quotes Jesus, as saying,"he would return in his father’s glory with his angels while some of the people standing there were still alive. It didn’t happen! and there are no 2000 year old people still living,at least they haven’t been seen by anyone.
In fact many non-catholic Bible scholars say of several billions to die in End Times (first 1/3 then even more), based on the Revelation. You can find them on youtube. I see nothing strange in such an interpretation, while I pray for lessening the punishment. Some say that only 1 billion or less will meet the Second Coming of Jesus alive. I am not sure we are at the time of the final End Times, but that is what say evangelical preachers. In comparison, the catholic prophecies are more merciful.
Even secular and non-christian sources give similar predictions of 2012. Including of a pre-planned population cull and full mind control of the remaining 0.5-1 bln. Or of a disastrous asteroid impact coupled with mega quakes and super volcanoes. Is it anything new for you?
OL Medjugorje didn’t say anywhere literally that billions will die. This is my own interpretation. If you find it odd, go on with your lives as if nothing will come, as in the time of the Flood.
Many different people are predicting many different things, which means one of to things:
- Most of them will be wrong, or
- All of them will be wrong.

Yeah man, I see what you are saying here. It all makes…

…sense. Yeah, it’s really…

Um…what were you saying again?

Great. And our own interpretation is that the evidence so far is that faith-based forecasts of world-ending cataclysm have a pathetic record for accuracy, whatever the religious tradition involved.
Me, I’ll leave interpretation of the meaning of alleged Marian revelations to the theologians. That phenomenon is a distinctively Catholic and Orthodox thing - churches where Joe Parishioner is not the one who gets to interpret the message.
Oh, good, so it will at worst be a localized disaster that only affects some areas around the Near East…
Sorry, mac, around here we only heed the warnings of OG. So… this OL – is she OG’s little sister or what?
It’s even worse than that…everybody born from this moment forward to the end of time is going to die, too! This disaster reaches into the very future to pluck the not-yet-ripened fruit of our loins off this mortal coil!!
