Hey! New Yorkers! Get yourself on there - I’m still the only NY’er.
Sure are a lot of MMPers on this map.
Including me now.
I’m on there now. All by my lonesome in Houston, the nation’s fourth-largest city.
Pretty cool. Unfortunately, my dot is almost completely hidden by Rufus Xavier’s.
[Bugs Bunny]Of course you realize, this means war![/BB]
Hey, has anyone tried zooming in *all the way]/i]? It just brings up a bunch of big gray-scale squares, but after a few seconds it resolves to a street map of my town!
Holy smoke!
I just joined you!
So now I know what a “shoutout” is. Hello wherever first person on the list happens to live.
It pretty much works just like Google Maps. I’ll see if my admin status lets me delete extra erroneous entries…
Interestingly, I am Kid_A on another board, whose Frapper thread just started, and I was on THAT map, as Kid_A.
Ok, maybe not that interesting.
Put 'em up, put 'em up! I’ll fight ya with one hand tied behind my back!
Yeah, then you can see where it puts you–in my case, miles outside of town but at least in the right part of the valley. Too cool!
It does, I’m the admin for another one of these. Just go to the “edit members” and find the correct one to delete. You can also edit comments should you ever find it necessary.
Extraordinarily cool. Except it took me a while to come up with a shoutout, and I ended up with something dumb!
I’m there, right behind Beadalin. Sorry, no cool pictures of me - yet. I’ll have to work on that.
That’s pretty damn cool. Looks like I’m the first from the five boroughs.
I signed up and then zoomed in all the way – it says I live in the Post Office.
Well, it was an accident!
Or was it?
That’s okay, I seem to live at the Leaf Dump.
Jeez. You couldn’t fix my coding when you quoted me?
I spent a few minutes looking at it to figure out where it put me. I’ve only lived in town for about 6 months, so I’m not super-familiar with the lay of the land. Anyways, after careful deliberation, I figured out the spot. There’s a small stand/shack that’s staffed by little old ladies who hand out informative pamphlets, brouchures, and etc. about the town, events, places to visit or stay, touristy-type stuff like that. It’s a trolley stop all summer, and that’s where I bought my $5 raffel tickets to win 100 pounds (45 Kgs!) of lobster (I didn’t win, btw). Anyways, that’s what Frapper points to in Marblehead, Mass. Weird. It’s got to be a coincidence that it actually points to something worth pointing to, right?
I’d like to hear where it put other Dopers. Anything interesting?
