Looks like it stuck me in the middle of a farm, waaayyy over on the other side of the river (moo!). WAG, it picks the geographic center of the zip code to stick the pin.
I’m actually in Damascus, Maryland, but we’re too small to show on this map so they list me as Gaithersburg. It takes me 35 - 45 minutes to get to work and that is* still * Gaithersburg.
Apparently, I’m in the Mystic River. I hope I have a boat or something. When the map is zoomed out, Telemark and I are right on top of each other (same zip code), but zoomed in, it puts him just about where I actually live, and I get dumped in the river. So there’s more to it than just locating the center of the zip code. Maybe a random spot within the zip code?
Well, it got pretty close with me. Only off by a couple of blocks. What’s really neat is that I can see my house clearly enough that I am tempted to go outside and wave. I wonder how often it updates the picture? Every year or so?
