Frasier Reboot; Threat or Menace?

I agree with this 100%. The first time I saw this scene I was gasping for breath I was laughing so hard.

mmm

The article makes it sound like not only will Niles not be there, but Daphne and Roz will be minimally involved (to “honor the past”) if at all.

“(W)e’ll certainly be responsive about the fact that there was a brother and such,” Grammer says. “But the new world for Frasier is one of new friendships—and some new twists and turns he didn’t know were still in there.” Grammer previously said he “cried” tears of joy upon reading the script for the reboot, per People .

There was a brother sounds like Niles is dead, and the tears of joy Grammer cried “previously” over the script may have referred to the original reboot, when the original cast was still involved.

I wonder if the wheels are coming off the project.

IIRC, the final episode of Frasier could be what they are using as the setup for the reboot and would explain an all new cast. The ep was titled “Goodnight Seattle” and featured Martin and Ronee getting married, Roz becoming the station manager of the radio station, Niles and Phoebe welcoming their first child David into the world and…Frasier getting a job on television in San Francisco. But it actually ends with the plane Frasier is on landing in Chicago, where his current love Charlotte (Laura Linney) has relocated.

Seems to me they have a couple of plausible story lines already set up to get them rid of the family and Seattle cast. I like the idea of Frasier having an television show a la Dr. Phil. But who knows what they what they will do.

There are indeed plausible storylines to springboard from the final episode, but if you re-read the story in the OP, the concept of the reboot never seems to have been nailed down. At first, Grammer said he would only do a reboot with the original co-stars. Then he “hoped” the costars would return. He said new Frasier would be “rich,” then he said he meant emotionally rich. And here we are six months after the show was originally scheduled to reboot, and none of these stories can actually pin down who will be in the cast besides Grammer, what Frasier will be doing, or where the show will take place.

Let’s face it, situation comedies don’t need to be conceived as deeply as The Sopranos but it’s usually a good idea to at least be able to explain the situation.
