Freaking teeth falling out.

I can’t even describe my dream. It was too weird for words. I died, met Satan, got out of hell, played Satan’s playstation, watched Satan’s bigscreen (not very big, actually) and played around in his mansion, then ended up back in my bed, somehow. I was sitting in bed when my teeth all felt loose. Satan pulled all the loose teeth, and I started crying over how hideous I would look without any teeth. I was sitting in my bed with my mouth open, pouring out blood, and bawling. Satan said not to worry because there were more teeth behind them. These teeth were almost full grown, but they were slanted back. I looked in the mirror, and he was right! There WERE more teeth, but small, and slanted. Then I woke up and was sitting in my bed, awake. Someone came in my room, and pulled most of my teeth. There weren’t any teeth behind them this time. Then I woke up.

Hmmm.

I told you once and I’ll tell you again - you’re gonna die, babyface… you’re gonna die.

Had a goooooodSaturday night, eh, Homer?

That means you wish you had no teeth so you could perform oral sex on men better.

Seriously.

Fag.

In my loosing-the-teeth dreams, they just crumble away, bloodlessly. Too bad they got your other sets of teeth, Homer.

Your dream made these words pop into my head (Mack the Knife):
*Oh the shark has/ Pretty teeth dear
And he keeps them/ Pearly white
And a jackknife/ Has Macheath dear
and he keeps it/ out of sight

When the shark bites/ with it’s teeth dear
scarlet billows/ start to spread
Fancy gloves though/ Wears Macheath dear
So there’s not a trace/ of red*

(Viennese accent on/) Tell me more about his dream of yours… (Viennese accent off/)

IIRC, in classic Freudian dream analysis, losing your teeth was a reference to sex. Don’t ask me why, unless Whammo’s guess is correct.

Ah God, brachyrhynchos! I’ve had that same dream countless times… my teeth crumbling inside my mouth until it’s filled to overflowing with chunks of teeth. Still gives me the creeps every time it happens!

It’s nice to know I’m not alone.

I’ve had the teeth falling out dream so many times it’s not funny.

I was told it’s a vanity dream. Worrying you looks are failing / letting yourself go etc.

I’d love to know for certain coz it’s my one big recurring dream.

Jeez, isn’t every dream sex-related according to Freud? I mean, c’mon already. So what if I’m on a train going into a tunnel, or putting socks in a drawer, or have my face buried in a peach pie, or…

Oh. Nevermind.

Well, I don’t remember having any dreams about losing my teeth, but it is one of my phobias in real life - falling and having my teeth knocked out, etc.

I had a variation of the losing-teeth dream early in my first pregnancy. I dreamed that my teeth were coming out, but they weren’t just falling out. They were being pushed out by the baby teeth that were growing in their places. The analysis seemed fairly straightforward, discomfort with the idea of fetus-as-parasite taking over my body, but it was incredibly disturbing to wake up with that visual in my head.

Dreaming about your teeth usually means you are grinding your teeth in your sleep.

I have the exact dream that Brachy and Olen have…all the time. I thought I was wierd or something. Well, nevermind, I am wierd, and so are you guys!

I’ve had a teeth falling out dream a few times too - only in my dream all my teeth become loose and I can leave them alone or I can worry at them with my tongue (like you do when you are a kid and you have a loose tooth) and every time I end up playing with them with my tongue and they fall out. It’s so realistic I wake up thinking that my teeth have fallen out and I have to check for them. I should really see a dentist.

Count me in on the tooth loss dream too.

Anyone fo falling and falling or for a dream about being killed in a variety of ways as well,

Nah thought not, I seems I am strange.

i have dental nightmares as well; usually a day or two before going to the dentist. there are two, my teeth getting hollowed out and then loosening; or i’m at the dentist my jaws lock with the drill clamped in my tooth still running with no way to shut it off. major heebie -jeebies.

I read somewhere (no cites, long time ago) that losing teeth has something to do with maternal guilt. But Homer, I’m pretty sure you are not a mother.

One way to analyze dreams that was described to me was to think of one element in the dream, and imagine yourself as that element, and your feelings surrounding that. For instance, if there is a table in your dream, as a table you might feel put upon, or have a wonderful finish, or have a marred finish covered by a cloth. The point is by providing the symbolism yourself, since it is your dream, you might get some insight as to what the dream originally meant to you.

Actually, Homer, this dream means you’re the antichrist. All that stuff was just Satan trying to do a little father-son bonding. Start checking your head for tattoos.

YIKES, rocking chair! My dentephobia meter just redlined in a major way.

Homer, maybe the last person taking your teeth was trying to render you powerless.
<<insert dramatic music>>
Who was that person???
And whew! I’m not alone with crumbly teeth dreams.

I always have those dreams too. Frequently they’re similar to the ones Magdalene and Brachy described, but there’s been some variations - f’rinstance, I’m grocery shopping and I slip and fall forward and knock them all out on the cart. Or I’m at Chuck E. Cheese and I jump into the ball-pit and hit the floor of it w/ my face, and all my teeth fall out and THEN I spend the rest of the dream trying to find all my teeth, and these damn little kids keep jumping in and making it impossible for me to find them.

I ALWAYS wake up convinced I’m toothless, too.

OK, if freud says every dream is symbolic of having sex, what would he say to a dream of having sex? You want to go on a train ride? What would it be?

OH & the teeth thing - you are weird definitely. One of my dogs has no teeth & she assures me that she has never dreamt about it…
