Okay. For years, I’ve been having recurring dreams about my teeth turning black and falling out. Last night I had another one. Can anyone tell me the following?
What does this mean, if anything?
What can I do to make things go back to normal? (e.g. - My regular, pleasant dreams like having sex with co-workers and such…)
I have had that dream also. My teeth don’t turn black, but they get loose and fall out. I don’t have it as much since I now have two crowns. A dentist can fix that in real life
Teeth turning black and falling out indicate a feeling of loss of control over some aspect of your life. It represents a feeling of powerlessness and an inability to influence the outcome of something important in your life.
Your dreams are telling you to reflect on this aspect of your life and formulate a plan of action, or to participate in the decision-making process. This should relieve your subconscious feelings of helplessnessand the dreams will end.
Now, I’ve been having dreams about hot dogs chasing donuts thru the Holland Tunnel. Oh and snakes, lots of ssssnakes…Can anyone help me with this.
I was a baby–I couldn’t say anything and my mom was breast feeding me. That was really weird. Can anyone interpret that? I’ve never had a dream like that.
There’s part of the reason for your dream. Your mother is probably one of the women you’ve known longest. Very easy to fantasize about her in your dreams.
Dreaming of being a baby usually means there is a part of your psyche that needs to grow (it’s in an infantile state, and needs nurturing). The breast-feeding part, well, would mean that this part of your psyche is hungry for this nurturing, and is ready to be fed.
Hate to sound like Dr. Freud, but, what is your relationship with your mother? Do you two have a good relationship?
Iampunha: Only a horny 19 year old guy would equate breast-feeding with sexual yearnings. Jeesh.
THespos: Maybe there’s something in your life that you’re neglecting, and that you’ll lose if you continue to neglect it? Perhaps that something has to do with your reputation or appearance, and its loss will really affect how others see you.
As for what you can do to change your dreams, there’s probably nothing you can do. You could force yourself to think about whatever it is you want to dream about, but I don’t think the added stress on you is worth it. Stress before sleep is a recipe for poor sleep. Also, you may or may not get the results you want.
mojo: I’m not Freudian, but those dreams strike me as being very sexual. I’m envious!
Silo: Your mother breastfeeding you isn’t necessarily sexual. It could be symbolic of your dependence on her. Have you asked her for help with anything recently?
Then again, dreams don’t always have meanings. It could just be brain entertainment.
MoJo, I was going to say just about the same thing. Possibly the feeling that you have bitten off more than you can chew here recently and the other times before.
Sometimes I am really good with dreams and sometimes nothing clicks.
I am still working on one for Gatsby that I am having a hard time figuring out.
Sometimes they are easier to figure out when you are actually talking to the person instead of trying to drag small important things out of them bit by bit over messages.
I should have expected psychoanalitics. Yeah, we have a good relationship, overall we get along just fine.
I’ve just never had a dream in that context and it scared me a little. My dreams usually consist of me being in a bizzare set of circumstances. In one dream I was suspected of being the unibomber and I was running from the feds. In another I was stranded hopelessly on one of the satillites of Jupiter in an air tight dome. And about a week ago I had a dream where I was in an alternate look-a-like world where everyone had the opposite personality. People that were asholes were nice, people that were nice were assholes…strange stuff.
No, not really. Since we moved to Va. she doesn’t have many friends (and my dad works out of town and comes home on weekends) so I talk with her and we go eat dinner a couple times a week. It’s rare I ask her for help. More often she asks me for help in fixing things around the house.
Oh, that’s easy, mojo… Your subconscious is obviously trying to tell you that the best greasy foods can be found in New York, and definitely not in Ireland (the snakes thing). Of course, your subconscious is a bit confused, because everyone knows that the best hot dogs are in Chicago and the best donuts are New Orleans.
And Silo, you’re saying that that dream is necessarily sexual?
Laura and I were walking in what seemed like a university campus. People all around us were running around, yelling and screaming. I could’ve sworn I saw gargoyles or demons flying above. We walked through the cemented area and came upon some stairs and a wall in the distance. She walked with her hands behind her back and kind of skipping along and I asked, “You dont usually get nervous in situations like this, do you?” She smiled and we continued walking.
