Good question! Usually, the… vague, yes… rules for inclusion on the list are
- It’s not policy debate. This rule is “iffy” as some of the things on the list… like 2A… can be considered policy.
- It’s not a proposal by someone in power to make that proposal (or a candidate). For example, Trump buying Greenland. Stupid, yes, but as President, it was his to propose. (Shades of my James Watt/Beach Boys call)
- The freakout should be about something completely irrelevant to anyone except very few people. Terry Schiavo. The Mr Potato Head freakout. Big Bird. IOW, culture-war shit.
- (And this is big) It must be driven by the rw infotainment machine.
Without #4, it’s hard to claim it is an actual “freakout”.
So to the point, stupid things said by Trump usually doesn’t count. Stupid things said by Tucker Carlson definitely count. If Carlson, et al, pick this up and drive it, then it would definitely count.
