Ignoring that this year’s bash was AFTER the previous year’s special celebration: “In the Fox News piece the writer mentions a huge 25 percent dip in attendance at H-D’s Harley Homecoming event, which takes place at its Milwaukee headquarters every year. This year just 60,000 bikers rode and flew in from all around the country and indeed world, which is significantly down from 2023’s event, which saw 80,000 attendees. Surely this is because bikers are waking up to the company’s woke practices, right? It definitely doesn’t have anything to do with 2023 being the 120th anniversary, and the company pulling out all of the stops to make it a giant bash.”
This year was just normal rally. Nothing huge. It was never intended to be huge. I believe Harley wants to do something like this each year and then a huge rally every 5 years. We’ve been doing a huge one every 5 years since either the 90th or 95th anniversary (at least that’s when I remember noticing it). If they think it’s slowing down, ask them to try and book a room at the Harley Hotel for 2028.*
Also, if I had to guess, I’d guess that the HD riders and owners, on average, lean further right than left. ISTM that’s not a group you want to alienate. Especially over DEI stuff that, in reality, they don’t care that much about one way or the other. These guys made it, what, a month before they started drinking Bud Light again. They’re not going to give up their bikes to help you make a point.
Said another way, are republican Harley owners more loyal to their party or their bike?
*I’m assuming it’s booked, but I could be wrong. I’m just going based on a few anecdotes I’ve heard from people that, while at one of the ‘big’ rallies, will book a room for the next one, 5 years out.

When Biden appeared again late last month after a brief isolation from COVID-19 — still very much alive — many didn’t backtrack or correct their false implications.
NewsGuard, a company that monitors online misinformation, identified 19 prominent accounts on the social platform X that in July shared the idea that Biden was potentially dead or close to death. The New York Times followed those accounts to see how they handled news that Biden was alive and found that most ignored it or stoked more conspiracy theories. Only a few admitted they had gotten it wrong.

I was mostly referring to the picture of Kid Rock drinking a Bud Light shortly after this whole thing started.
The Dylan Mulvaney thing happened in April of 2023. While I won’t deny it hurt, and is still hurting, Bud Light, it’s my understanding that this was a more of a ‘pushed them over the edge’ thing. They were already losing market share and Modelo was likely to pass them up in the next few years anyway. Here’s an interesting CNBC video on the topic.
The MAGAciles are freaking out about “Tampon Tim” Walz for putting free tampons in school restrooms. Even {Shudder} boy’s restrooms. I suppose it’s to accommodate any F to M trans students still having periods. But what horror! Can you imagine the lifelong harm caused to a young boy if he (gasp) sees a tampon dispenser? Looks like we could be in for a cooties pandemic!
If he choose to respond to the Tampon Tim thing, I hope he just owns the name. “While I don’t consider myself a hero for something as simple as putting tampons in the bathrooms, if you want to call me Tampon Tim, I’ll take it, thanks”. Sort of along the lines of Obama making fun of republicans for calling ACA Obamacare. IIRC he said something to the extent of “You’re right, Obama cares”.
Besides the fact of some transgender boys potentially needing menstrual hygiene products in the boys’ restroom, have these people literally never heard of the terrifying rite of passage “Being Sent Out For Tampons While Male”?!?
When your gf texts you ”Babe I’m on the bus, hurry up and PLEEEEZ bring me a tampon bc im out and there may not be any at the field trip site!!!”, what’s a guy supposed to do? Nobody wants boys dashing into the girls’ restroom, right? Obviously the sensible solution is to make tampons available in all restrooms.
Will there be some abuse of this resource, in the form of aperture-plugging pranks like putting tampons in the sink faucets? Guaranteed. Is that enough of a reason not to put tampon dispensers in boys’ as well as girls’ restrooms? No.
And if someone really wants to do this, and you only have tampons in the girls’ restrooms, the boys are going to find a way to get their hands on them regardless. Now, the more convenient you make it, the more likely the boys will be inclined to do it. But still. And it’s not like girls would never do such a thing either.
The potential for abuse does not seem to come anywhere close to the benefit it would provide to someone who really needs one. (Clearly I’m in full agreement with you.)
