Freaks and Geeks- Where are they now?

The greatest show that never made it has been gone for a long time, but it looks like the cast is being recognized for its excellence. Two members of the principle cast are in new series this fall that are both getting critical praise. Others are already in hit shows. Still others are making a living in the business.

Linda Cardellini … Lindsay Weir

She has been fairly successful, I’d say. She is a regular on ER and has starred as Velma in the Scoobie Doo films. Plus, if you look at her photos on her IMDB page, one of the photos in the Events section is very amusing.

**John Francis Daley … Sam Weir **

Sam is back, baby. He is in a promising series (with a bad time slot) on Fox called Kitchen Confidential. I was worried about JFD. I figured his career may be over. I hope his show makes it, as it looks really good.

James Franco … Daniel Desario

He’s doing the Spiderman movies, playing Harry Osborne. He was also in the Great Raid. I could see him being a guy who gets a script after SEVERAL actors have passed on it.

Samm Levine … Neal Schweiber

He’s been in a lot of stuff. I see him pop up in Sitcoms (That 70’s Show, Just Shoot Me) and movies (Not Another Teen Movie) all the time. To me, he is a character actor at best.

**Seth Rogen … Ken Miller **

Rogen has seemingly hitched his wagon to Freaks creator Judd Apatow’s star. Not only did he appear in Apatow’s other unfairly cancelled series, Undeclared, he also appeared in the new hit film, The Forty Year Old Virgin.

**Jason Segel … Nick Andopolis **

The second cast member to appear in a sitcom this fall, Segal appears in sure fire hit, How I Met Your Mother. Sadly, this show appears in the same timeslot as Daley’s Kitchen Confidential. So not only will there be a Buffy The Vampire head to head matchup on the show, there will also be a F&G conflict.

**Martin Starr … Bill Haverchuck **

Has this poor guy, the best member of the cast, done anything? Hemay be hurting. Let’s all send him $80.

**Becky Ann Baker … Jean Weir **

I haven’t seen her since.

**Joe Flaherty … Harold Weir **

He was already successful BEFORE F&G. I assume he will continue to find work. JACKASS!

**Busy Philipps … Kim Kelly **

Not sure I’ve seen her in anything either.
Anyone else seen these guys in anything? What about the other cast members?

I seem to remember seeing the guidance counselor in a hilarious episode of Frasier.

Please tell me you are not dissing Count Floyd are you?

She’s got a sitcom called Love, Inc. that’s on UPN’s fall schedule. It’s turning out to the the Fall of Freaks Alumni.

She turned up this past year in a 30-second commercial for heartburn medicine or something with one speaking line - not a good sign.

Not at all. Just reciting one of his famous lines.

Which photo of Linda Cardellini do you find amusing?

This One!

Dude, what’s his Paypal address?? I am finally getting to see Freaks and Geeks for the first time, courtesy of Netflix. I am in love with that guy, and I really hope he finds work.

I’m thinking he’ll be getting all the roles Paul Walker turns down. Can’t say that’s going to buy him a house in Malibu I’m afraid.

Why?

Martin Starr and Busy Phillips also did bit roles in “Undeclared”. I believe Martin Starr was in an episode of “Titus” once, as well. And Busy Phillips has shown up on “Malcolm in the Middle” (I think it was the same episode with Cindy Sanders in it - yeah, I don’t know her real name just the character).

Becky Ann Baker played Sara Jane Moore in the recent Broadway run of Assassins - she was brilliant and hysterical in the role. Being a huge F&G fan, I was thrilled to see her on the cast list when it was announced.

Can’t remember her name, but the girl who played Lindsey’s geeky girlfriend (with the braids) was on the last season of Buffy, and has done a fair amount of bit parts on other shows (I think she did a guest shot on Grey’s Anatomy, too, and had a great role on that). She always seems to turn up when I’m not expecting her.

E.

I saw him at the beginning of a strange “left behind” type mini series either this spring or this summer. He was Bill Pullman’s character’s grad student / chauffeur guy. I only saw a tiny bit, so I don’t know if he figured highly in the rest of the show.

Off to IMDB to see if I can figure out what that show was…

Revelations

Well, you gotta love a pretty girl smiling. As for her boobs: she either has huge aereoli [sic] (nothing wrong with that. Bigger targets  .), she’s having bra issues, or she’s wearing those gel implants that go in the bra rather that in the boob.

She might be wearing a stick-on bra.

I believe it’s one of those stick-on strapless, backless “bras”. It’s a curvy piece of adhesive backed paper which is supposed to provide some support. Lemme see if I can google…here you go.

(Bolding mine)

Okay, I give up. What is that line from? It’s so familiar!

Which reminds me that Martin Starr was also in the Royal Tenenbaums.

I believe you’re thinking of Stephen Lea Sheppard (who played Harris Trinsky on F&G).
