First it was the forbidden dance, then it was an Elmore Leonard novel, and recently I’ve been hearing it in a pitch for some product, I can’t remember what (always the mark of a successful advertising campaign).

The Freaky Deaky must have been popular when I was young, but I have no recollection of it. Can anyone describe the dance?

I’m forty-something and I’ve never actually heard of it as a “forbidden dance”, only as a catch phrase. But then, I’ve led a sheltered life.
