Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit - WTF happened?

I was never a real Limp Bizkit fan - at all. Actually never really cared for them.

But somehow I liked Fred Durst. He seemed to have a bit of swagger, a good looking guy, a little crazy I guess…

So here he is being interviewed on the Tom Green show.

WTF happened to the guy?

He got older. Happens to everyone. Except Dick Clark.

Actually, on watching it, he seems like a really nice guy. I guess he is a rocker who turned out … normal…

Looking a little old for his 38 years, though - I wonder if that’s the premature graying or the “mileage” he’s put on himself.

I think his face looks fine, his hair and beard have just turned gray early.

You may be right. It’s hard to tell considering the amount of skin covered by the facial hair, plus the glasses make it tough to get a good look around his eyes. Hopefully that’s it.

When he shaves it all off , he looks like a relatively attractive (and bald) man in his late thirties.

I didn’t recognize his face at all. In fact I didn’t think it was him for the first 5 minutes.

I reaaaaaally hate Fred Durst. He’s a piece-of-crap, no-talent, lowlife. I’m glad he’s fading into obscurity, and it doesn’t surprise me that he looks the way he does. He never has been at all attractive.

I did enjoy the way Eminem wiped up the pavement with him, time and again, and how, despite his “tough guy” exterior he always backed down. That was the most entertainment he ever provided me.

Fred Durst is somewhat proud of his claims to have never read a book, and even back in the day when I liked his music, I thought he was an utter tool for bragging about that particular “factoid.”

So, whatev, Freddie baby. Enjoy being a footnote.

Did he really say that and brag about it? From your own cite:

The link I provided, while certainly seeming tongue-in-cheek regarding Mr. Durst’s loathing of the printed word, is not the first time I’ve heard or read of the same sentiments being expressed. Unfortunately, however, I no longer have access to the massive pile of music magazines that I used to peruse on an obsessively-regular basis throughout the 90s, in which he made similar statements regarding his tendency to avoid anything of an educational nature. I apologize for being unable to provide you with a more solid citation.

These definitions for “Fred Durst” from UrbanDictionary.com are hilariously appropriate:
Urban Dictionary: Fred Durst

He is no longer a corporate product so he doesn’t have to have mass appeal anymore. He’s just dressing like he normally would.

Compare that video to this video from 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8IFeYCACb4

Ignoring the way he looks, he sounds completely different. His accent is different. Fred Durst in the Tom Green interview sounds like a drunken redneck from Jacksonville… especially when he says “75 beers later” and “Jacksonville, Florida”.

Agree with the above. Are we sure that’s really him? The voice and accent sound different.

Ehh I can’t really see the hate for him, after watching that tom green video. I wasn’t ever really into Limp Bizkit or Eminem so I don’t know what exactly you’re really referring to, but he is the very opposite of a “tough guy” in that interview.

edit: “Agree with the above. Are we sure that’s really him? The voice and accent sound different.”
Hmm, maybe in the youtube video he was putting on an act? (i.e. didn’t want to be seen as a redneck dude possibly affecting his movie ratings or whatever)

He was also the bartender in the season finale of House. I didn’t recognize him.

I thought he seemed far more likeable in the thirty seconds of the video I watched than I’d ever before considered him to be. Less of an arrogant poser pseudo-tough guy with baselessly super-inflated ego.
