Creed vs. Limp Bizkit

A few weeks ago on MTV, I heard that Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit said some “mean” things about Scott Stapp of Creed, resulting in some very negative feelings from both parties. All comments from Fred Durst came during a concert featuring both bands.

Today, on VH1, I heard that Scott said, and I quote as closly as I can recall: “I know I could kick his [Fred’s] ass.” Saying this while entertaining the idea of challenging Fred to a boxing match. Apparently, Fred called Scott something along the lines of a pretty boy.

Now, my question to you is, who do you think would win? I don’t know either one personally but, judging from some of their lyrics and the way they present themselves while singing said lyrics, I would say Fred.

LB lyrics: I hope you know I pack a chain saw. I’ll skin your ass raw. And if my day keeps going this way I just might break your f***ing face tonight.

Creed lyrics: Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see. Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets.

What do you think?

Let’s think. Creed is a Christian rock group. Limp Bizkit is the group blamed (granted, IMHO, unjustly) for inciting riot at Woodstock. I think Fred might kick the pretty boy’s ass.

Aren’t there five guys in Limp Bizkit and just four in Creed? Simple math gives the odds to LB.

Also, whenever I think of Christians fighting, I think of the montage scene in Fight Club where one of the guys tries to goad a priest into a fight. “Oh, I’m sorry!”

No, no, no. This is just the frontmen of each group. Scott vs. Fred. The rest of the respective groups are not involved.

Why did I title the thread Creed vs. Limp Bizkit then? Because practically no one would have known who I was referring to had I titled Scott vs. Fred.

I would hope that they kill each other so their shit bands wouldn’t make any more awful music.

Fred looks like a runt of a guy, which probably explains why he’s into aggrock (aggressive rock). But, in the Creed video for “With Arms Wide Open,” Scott looks rather buff in the white tank top.

So, I dunno. I hope they both lose.

I think that it’s all about the he said/she said bullshit.

So, Mr. Cynical, do you do it all for the nookie?

You’re SO on top of my list now, Silver_Fire

Well, sure Go ahead and quote Creed’s wimpiest song, why don’t ya! Check out the whoop ass lyrics here:

My stage is shared by many millions
Who lift their hands up high because they feel this
We are one
We are strong
The more you hold us down the more we press on

What if you did?
What if you lied?
what if I avenge?
what if eye for an eye?

See? That’s some rough shit, man! I know I shit my pants the first time I heard it. Scott is one bad, mother-

Oh, forget it. I can’t keep a straight face. Fred would beat Scott like a nark at a biker rally.

Creed is not a Christian band.
I guess that would tip the scales a bit more in Scott’s favor. That and the fact that Fred’s tough guy routine could be a big bully bluff.
I think a Kid Rock/Fred Durst cage match would be more interesting. Especially with chainsaws.

Uh-huh. Yeah. Sure.

It looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, so, sorry, self-protestations aside, it’s a duck.

And, what I’m waiting for, anyway, is a NSync/Backstreet Boys brawl. Five on five. Last one standing gets Britney Spears.

So if it posts like an idiot, and it acts like an idiot, it is an idiot even if it says it isn’t? Guess I know a few hundred idiots.

Seriously, I think that any perception of Creed as a christian band is soley based upon opinion. See, part of the whole Christian gig, as I understand it, is to be actively witnessing. If they deny that they are witnessing, then they are not witnessing in the true sense of the word.

Well, to me (a lapsed Jew, for disclosure’s sake), Creed:

  • is full of Christians
  • writes really simplistic lyrics that reek of Christian values
  • has a vaguely religious name
  • features their lead singer “rising up” from the crowd, while stretching his arms out a la that Jesus guy once did, in their latest video

So, to me, they’re a Christian band under alternative guises. I’ve said this elsewhere, but they’re the new Stryper, just without the cool bumblebee outfits.

But, I was unaware of the requirements to be actively witnessing during their performances. If that’s the case, then I guess they’re not a “true” Christian rock band, but I’m still leery toward their intentions.

How about Christian-flavored crap music, then? How does that strike all of us?

I just thought of something. They need someone to watch their back, right? I’d assume Fred would use the bassist with the wierd contacts. He would scare the crap out of Scott. Hell, he scares the crap out of me. Scott would run like a little girl, and Fred would win without throwing a punch.

Works for me.

Should my crush on you, Swiddles, be affected by the fact that you know so much about these bands? I usually change the channel when they come on the radio or MTV.

How about we make it “The person who doesn’t win” stops making music.

(Is wishing for a double knockout)

Montfort, I worked for a modern/alt rock radio station for a little over a year. Trust me, I learned this stuff only by force.

That, and I had the displeasure to experiance both of them at Woodstock '99. I was in the pit during Creed waiting for the Chili Peppers to come on, and fell during their set.Luckily, I happened to be surrounded by a bunch of nice people who pulled me to my feet before I could be trampled, but I still harbour a lot of bitterness toward Creed because of it.

Anyhoo, I am not a fan of either.

Very good info to know. Whew

Anyway, you got me thinking: maybe I should start an “Ask the former college radio DJ” thread… Nah.

Am I the only one aware that Fred Durst is a total POSER?!?! He’s about as genuine as a virgin in a whorehouse. I think Scott would win, because it takes a lot more balls to be something that ISN’T popular. Like a Christian band. (Although, lets be honest, it doesn’t seem to be hurting Creed much.)
LB stole their entire schtick from the Hip-Hop community. Creed stole their sound from Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. If originality is any measure of toughness, than Bob Dylan could kick BOTH their asses! And he’s OLD!
