Back in the day (the day defined as late 50’s/early 60’s) Cubs games were a bargain for kids. Mornings before home games there’d be 50 or so kids that would show up on Addison. We’d be taken into the park and spend three hours or so picking up trash left after the previous day’s game. This labor was rewarded with a non-reserved grandstand seat to that day’s game or a future game of your choice.
At three hours, the pay came to $0.20/hr as grandstand ticket prices were $0.60. If you wanted a bleacher seat you’d have to cough up $0.15 as they were $0.75.
Not a bad deal for a broke 12 year-old who wanted to see a major league game .
