As someone with an interest in Cold War history I thought it was pretty damn nifty and downloaded all back-issues for leisurely perusal.
Is anyone aware of any similar military journals with free back-issues covering the Cold War period?

I can’t answer the question. Armor magazine was just about the only journal I used to read. I just want to mention that coincidentally I just received yesterday my first signed and numbered Jody Harmon prints in the mail. Jody has been doing the artwork for Armor magazine for 20 years or so. He is now my Facebook friend for what it’s worth. http://www.jodyharmon.com/
