Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

As I understand it, EPIC still pays the developer/publisher for the sale. I can’t find any links right now unfortunately.

ETA to change EA to Epic, brain fart.

Like others, I tend to take whatever I might have even a fleeting interest in. Sometimes a game isn’t what I thought when my initial reaction was “Nah”. Sometimes some friends might want to get into a multiplayer game long after the fact.

I grabbed Gloomhaven in Sept 2022 not really expecting to ever play it but then a friend wanted to start a game a couple of months ago and we’ve been playing about weekly since.

They don’t pay it as if every giveaway was a retail sale, they make a big lump sum offer for the right to give their game away. There was some leaked document from some lawsuit that showed how much they were paying publishers to give away their games and it was (to me) surprisingly cheap. Downloading extra games may in an indirect, general sense cost epic more because the number of copies expected to be given away goes up in general, but it’s not like you’re costing them $10 (or whatever the publisher’s share would be) every time you redeem a free game.

Thanks, too bad it’s not hitting Epic harder.

Another consideration is that part of my estate will be my game libraries for whatever spawn wants to take them on. Someone is going to be astounded at my home in Fallout 4 if they ever load it up.

It is certainly a topic for another thread but I have wondered if I can bestow my games library to someone else in my will?

Again…definitely not a topic for this thread.

FYI: For the next week Steam is running Next Fest which showcases numerous upcoming games. While none of the games are free (I do not think) they have many free demos available for you to try (as well as livestreams and other stuff). It is a great way to check out some games for free that might pass under your radar otherwise.

I had to get this based on nothing but the description.

Play as an adorable yet trouble-making turnip. Avoid paying taxes, solve plantastic puzzles, harvest crops and battle massive beasts all in a journey to tear down a corrupt vegetable government!

Rage 2: Deluxe Edition (includes all DLC) is free if you have Amazon Prime.

NOTE: To get this it Amazon needs to link to your Epic Games account. If you do not have an Epic Games account you will need one and if you don’t want to link accounts then it will not work.

ETA: The game (Rage 2) will appear in your Epic Games account to play from there.

Epic’s freebie for this week is Golden Light.

Looks pretty awful. Maybe it is good in a B-movie sorta way where being bad is fun. I dunno.

But, I see no reason not to add it to the library when it is free.
