If you like that kind of game it looks like a huge giveaway I suppose.

I discovered a game called Barotrauma that’s free to play on Steam this weekend. It’s a side-scrolling management game similar to Rimworld or Oxygen Not Included where you run a submarine on a colonized Europa. Basically you take your sub and crew on missions to earn money to keep your sub running and afford upgrades while dealing with various horrors of the deep.

Conceptually it’s very cool and it received really good reviews. But to be honest, it seems like it has a pretty steep learning curve if you really dig into it, while at the same time feeling a bit repetitive. I just don’t have the time to spend hours and hours gaming.

ENA: Dream BBQ is currently free on Steam (not sure for how much longer though…I suspect not too long).

I honestly have no clue what the game is really about but it has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from Steam players (with near 19,000 votes).

No crap. I can’t even tell what “ENA” means.

I had to go into the reviews for the game to get any sort of idea about the game, and even those aren’t that helpful. Just enough that I am pretty sure it won’t be a game for me.

Here are a couple of samples (from positive reviews mind you).

This game is essentially several dreams and random thoughts mushed together in 1 world with a rather loose story that somehow always ends up getting back on track after all the crazy unexpected turns.

Honestly didn’t know what was happening for like 90% of the game.
So overall, it was perfect.

The characters are real fun to talk to and the designs are so so unique. Before you play it I do recommend watching the ENA series first otherwise you might miss out on some cool references.

Again, what the heck is ENA, how can I watch the series first if I have no idea what it is?

You don’t need to have seen ENA on youtube to enjoy this, but it’d be a good way to get in the right zany mindset.

Ah, that’s good, I don’t need to watch it first, but at least I know it’s some YouTube thing.

Admittedly, the platforming aspect is a little bit difficult. I’m not terribly good at platforming, but I did manage to get through most of those sections eventually.

Oh, so there is platforming at some point?

Very nice game although i was more lost than playing it has a very nice environment and a long story for such a small game voice actors did a nice job so did Joel i gotta say it was worth the two year wait

“I was more lost than playing it” doesn’t sound like a heavy endorsement.

I get the feeling that properly playing this game requires inhaling something first.

I watched about half of the first Steam video and it looked like you were simply watching animations; I couldn’t detect any “play”.

I gave up at that point, knowing it wasn’t for me.

ENA , also formatted as ƎNA , is a Peruvian avant-garde animated comedy series, created by Joel Guerra and published on YouTube and Newgrounds.

(From the ENA Wiki)

THANK YOU!

I still have no more desire to play the game, but at least there is some context for it now.

I wonder if they figure that there is no need to explain what ENA is, because if you don’t already know then you will have no interest in the game anyway.

@Misnomer I don’t know if you game, but given your latest Lego project I thought the game posted above might be of interest to you, especially since it’s free today!

Awww, thank you so much for thinking of me!! I’m not a gamer, though.

If ever you were to try PC gaming this one might be the one for you. It’s pretty great and it is fairly easy (meant for family enjoyment with younger kids). And the price point of free is hard to beat.

Looks like goofy fun

Multiplayer PvP or PvE game Cast & Spell is free until noon CST on May 20th

Bioprototype is free on Steam until June 20th when it gets removed. An “auto-bomber” (I guess that’s what we call Vampire Survivors-likes?) with “programming elements”. It was previously pulled from Steam after the publisher was banned for …reasons?.. and it temporarily back for free from the developer. Or something.
