I get the idea, but is not something I like much, again I prefer games that simulate the situation, as in:
“you are at this angle of the enemy, you have this and that between you two, you have this accuracy score, thus we calculate that you have a 30% chance of hitting it”
Vs
“you have the throw rock card and thus can throw a rock at him, but you don’t have the fire gun card so you cannot fire a gun at him”.
My innate reaction is “WHY!?” why can’t I fire my gun at him? the gun is right there! and the answer is “Because it’s against the rules”, which works in a table top game, perhaps, but I thought that with computer games we could leave all those abstractions out.
It turns out that a lot of people like those abstractions though, and I don’t think less of them for that, but it’s certainly not my cup of tea.
I guess since the Steam Sale has ended, it’s… time for publishers to give their games away instead? Don’t ask me how the economy works. Anyway, these are free until July 17th.
I could never decide if I liked Battlestar Galactica Deadlock or not. I really wanted to like it, I kinda did…but for some reason it never quite clicked with me and I am not sure why. I might need to revisit it.
I’m sorta the same about Battlestar Galactica Deadlock. I have very fond memories of it, but for some reason I only have 6.5 hours in it and I don’t think even got halfway through the main campaign.
I really enjoyed Battlestar Galactica Deadlock. I’m not much of a strategy guy, but I liked the turn-based nature of this and the end of battle replays are very cool.
I downloaded Field of Glory 2, Battlestar Galactica and Fantasy General in our new gaming laptop and discovered 2 things:
I love Fantasy General, I like Field of Glory (With possibilities of love) and I’m intrigued by Galactica, I envision many happy hours of turn based gaming.
I should’ve downloaded them in the old non-gaming laptop because they are old games, no need for the gaming laptop that can be used by my son to play Cyberpunk or Tainted Grail, I guess I’ll have to download them again.
It’s great that people are enjoying those free strategy games. But some of you might be thinking “What if I don’t want to THINK about war, Poindexter? What if I just want to shoot things? Things like zombies?”
For you, we have Ultimate Zombie Defense, free until the 15th.
I’ve got that in my Steam library (I’m sure I bought it at a deep discount, as is my habit) but I don’t think I have whatever is included in the Platinum edition. Although, I didn’t really get into it when I played it - I liked Civ V better.
I always think of Civ 6 as the endless tutorial. I tried to get through it three different times but never managed to finish it. It’s well over an hour long, and you can’t save.
Honest question to you or any that know. My wife tried Civ 6, but found it buggy and prone to crashing, to the point that she just plays Civ5 when she’s in the mood for that sort of game - does anything in the expansions or DLC fix those issues? Or is it going to be more of just reverting to an hour ago save because it’s become corrupted, crashed, or other torment?
Same here. This edition seems complete (or more complete than what I have).
That said, I agree with you. I much prefer Civ-V. They dumbed it down too much for Civ-VI. I haven’t even bothered to try Civ-VII yet. I see nothing that makes me think it is an improvement (I hate that you don’t start with one civ and carry them through the whole game).
Couple freebies off Steam: Kitchen Wars, a multiplayer game and DRACOMATON, a bullet hell style affair. Both are only free until the 4th so hurry on it.
GOG has a thing going where you can enter the code FREEDOMTOBUYGAMES and get a bundle added which includes some adult stuff like Huniepop, House Party, Helping the Hotties and a couple of copies of Agony. It’s a response to Steam and Itch getting pressured by right-wing groups into pulling adult titles by threatening them via credit card providers. I think it lasts through the weekend.
New game Guntouchables is free for the first 24hours. Which means it ends at 3:00am on the 8th (CST) which is kind of a weird time to end a free offer. Anyway…
