I’ve got 911 Operator. I’m not sure what the difference is - outside of probably updates, since I got it a few years ago - but it’s kind of fun. For me, it just gets to a point where all the emergencies are too overwhelming to be fun.
I’m looking forward to trying out that Road Redemption game. It looks a lot like Road Rash on the old Genesis system, but, you know, better.
I got the impression from the start of the trailer that its a sequel, taking the 9 away and putting a 2 in there.
Also of note, the same game is being given away on mobile this week. I’d be interested as to whether it makes sense on a smartphone from someone who played the first on.
Thanks for that - I originally passed because the preview video looked a bit chaotic, but I’ll give it a chance since it seems that may not be the case.
I was in the mood for some casual gaming, and installed both after claiming.
Kamaeru: hmm, charming idea, not sure I will finish it. Generally I like the graphics, but the frogs are overly cute and in eye searing colours. And it’s made-up frog species, so it’s not like I’ll learn anything about frogs. Gameplay feels like a jumble of overused management/crafting game mechanics.
Strange Horticulture: much more interesting, with some existential dread/eldritch horror mixed in with the casual. The game loop is identifying plants your customers want from the descriptions in your ever growing compendium. Make 3 errors in a day, and your mind breaks … and you’ll have to reassemble it in a minigame.
You also receive letters/clues for where you need to travel to gather more plants.
Dead in Bermuda is free on Steam until the 29th (probably noon CST). It’s a “survival management game” and features the winning quote “You don’t fight tigers with kids unless you want to feed them!”.
Vampire Survivors knock-off Walking Survival is free until the 31st. Is it better than VS? Almost certainly not but it’s currently free which is enough to get it a mention.
