Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

Casual math/logic escape room puzzle game “Puzzle Chambers” is free until Sept 19th

Epic this week:

Project Winter

Samorost 2

Cybarian: the Time Traveling Warrior is free until the 23rd. It’s a seven year old game with only 64 mixed reviews so you know it must be good.

The second half of this makes me want to link to the Chaotic Good(?) youtube shorts, but it packs in some offensive stereotypes and extreme violence (IMHO in a parodying sense but…), so I hesitated.

You can’t say you haven’t been warned - NSFW, or for your sanity, but fun for me:

Violent Cartoon Violence and Questionable Language, NSFW!

My Blade… (So you know it’s good)

Today on Epic:

Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy

Eastern Exorcist

Eastern Exorcist is free on the Epic mobile app as well, for those who celebrate

I played Eastern Exorcist when it was on Game Pass and really enjoyed it. I’m definitely grabbing it on Epic. It’s a simple game but with enough RPG elements to keep you wanting to progress, and a really nice aesthetic.

ETA: Weird, I already have it in Epic Games, I wonder when I grabbed it?

Ah… Scrolling up, back in January it was a freebie.

Also weird, I think I’ve grabbed every free epic game since early covid and I didn’t have it.

Weirdly, Eastern Exorcist is also in this month’s Humble Choice Bundle and not a single person in my gaming circle picked up on the fact that they already owned it via Epic until it was this week’s free game and everyone was asking “How do I already own this?”

I guess it’s a real memory hole of a game

The memory was exorcised.

I’ll put this first since it’s more interesting than this free game: Steam is having their autumn sale now. I guess they realized that having it over Thanksgiving wasn’t exactly inspiring with the winter sale right after. With that out of the way…

Snake Eyes Dungeon is free until October 3rd in case you want to play what looks like a middling mobile-style game on your PC

Epic this week:

Firestone, an online Idle RPG is back being featured, though it’s always free, I believe.

Nightingale

Yeah, that looks like a clone of countless lazy mobile games with awful graphics and no actual gameplay. You just watch bad bobbleheads swinging terribly-animated swords at enemies and numbers increasing. It’s weird for Epic to feature something like this.

Epic this week:

Gravity Circuit, a 2D action platformer.

Rogue Journeyman, an add-on bundle for Albion (free-to-play MMORPG). Looks like the add-on is always free as well and they’re just highlighting it.
