Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

Battlefield 6 is having a free trial until December 2. You don’t quite get access to 100% of the game but there are 3 free trial playlists that cover most of the modes so you get to see almost all the multiplayer.

Epic this week:

Universe for Sale, point-and-click adventure game.

Epic this week:

The Darkside Detective, point-and-click comedy adventure game.

Jackbox Party Pack 4, party trivia games.

This week on Epic:

Hogwarts Legacy

Wow, that’s a pretty huge giveaway. It’s fairly recent, very popular, hasn’t been heavily discounted that I’ve noticed, and hasn’t been given away in bundles or anything like that.

It’s been ~$12 via standard outlets (Steam) and down to $4 via shadier key sellers. Hasn’t been bundled that I know of – we keep guessing it to be a contender for “Next month’s Humble Choice”

Was a fun game and I enjoyed it. Worth picking up for free!

I loved walking around Hogwarts, which they fully realized. I even found the Deathday Party at one point.

The main story was good as well. The open world was pretty dull, though.

I sort of appreciated that there was something to do every ten steps but it was a lot of the same stuff repeated (and same enemy types). So if you were just looking for a way to blow three minutes on a puzzle it was fun but if you had any sense of being a completest, it got to be a grind. Fortunately, I’m largely immune to the siren’s call of a Ubisoft-style map loaded with busywork icons.

I thought the combat was really well done. Excitng and strategic, and yet surprisingly faithful to the source material.

They’ve changed the timings of the release of the free games now, haven’t they? 8pm ET amounts to 2am UK, six hours later than last week and the years before. I thought it was the christmas daily thing starting a bit early.

I assume it was timed with the Game Awards show last night which also started at 8pm EST

For those who missed the game awards show here is a YouTube video of the whole thing (all 3.5 hours of it):

Epic has an interesting giveaway for mobile this week, classic roguelike Dead Cells. I remember I had fun playing it on pc when I had gamepass.

To install epic game store and games from the store on an android phone (and iphone too I assume) you have to relax default security settings. But you can tighten them again afterwards, provided you relax them again if you later want to install another game.

Lasts until friday.

Wild Terra 2: New Lands is free until the 18th (noon CST, probably). Some MMORPG I’ve never heard of. Scroll down the list of special editions to get to the free base game offer.

Epic daily freebie (12 days of Christmas):

Hordes of Hel free until December 19.

Join the Christmas working class with elf simulation game, Toy Tinker Simulator, free until the 21st.

‘Tis the season. More free games: Rat Quest (until 25th) and 100% Orange Juice (until 22nd) – everything you need for a complete breakfast.

100% Orange Juice has been free before so don’t be shocked if you own it.

Eternights free game for today…

Eternights was posted as a freebie in this thread back in September of last year, if people are seeing it already in their library.

That’s weird, I don’t think I’ve missed a free epic game in about 5 years, and I didn’t have it…
