Agreed. This is a truly excellent game. Well worth anyone’s time. Of course, as always, if this style is not your thing then skip it. That said, it is really great.
Celebrate Christmas like the weirdly religious Christian cavemen of BC
I got it a while back on GOG, it’s one of the most interesting games I’ve ever played. It’s great.
Can you please explain why? I tried it for an hour and really did not get it. It was PC gamers number 1 game of the year for about 4 years running when my favourite game, Satisfactory made number 59 last year… For this bafflingly hook absent game of rambling shit making me be some wandering loser…. Please explain why this even made spot 99 in that list, for gods sake, never mind, ok, I’m done.
I’m in the middle on it. I can see why it’s so popular. For it’s genre it’s pretty different and fairly deep. The problem is … I hate that kind of game. I mean, I don’t really. On paper, I like games like that but as soon as the branching story lines get too crazy and I’ve triggered 17 side quests I tend to get a little “who cares” about most of it. That’s what I found with Disco E. I just got frustrated and vapor locked.
It mixes the game world with the internal world of your character’s mind back and forth in a way I’ve never experienced before, and both seem to have equal impact on the progress of the game. It’s like going through an introspective novel with surreal elements but in an immensely interactive way.
It felt like the birth of a new genre. And it had a lot of point-and-click elements as well as RPG elements, which are genres I love and have a lot of experience with, which helped make the game feel comfortable as much as it was a novelty.
The next game I played that felt so revelatory was Baldur’s Gate 3.

Viewfinder is todays epic free game, one which I bought, and is interesting, stepping through photographs into other places.
I played it as well, but found it got a bit tiring and I think I quit before the end.
Trine classic collection is todays epic free game. I’ve got 1-3 of them already, but never got around to playing them.
Think the daily thing might end 1st January.
Today on Epic (a repeat freebie):
Today on Epic is Total War: Three Kingdoms. This looks like a good one - I’ve really enjoyed some of the earlier Total War games.
Also free: Wildgate, a PvPvE multiplayer shooter. Usually not free. A review described it as “Sea of Thieves in space”.

I play the version that comes with Apple Games. It’s a lot of fun!
Apparently it’s the two Styx games next week, I’ve played both through in full and they were very good.
On another note, it appears the moronsphere which is reddit got itself worked up into a frenzy that the final game on 1st of January was supposed to be Red Dead Redemption 2. Such a big game that a lot of people already have it, so I don’t really see the complaint unless it’s simply a bunch of children and bots wanting it for free.
