Yes, started today.
12 days of Christmas?
I dunno. Just a guess.
Maybe! Last year was 15 games total but I don’t know if they had any days of multiple titles or if it was 15 days worth.
My Epic launcher said 15 days of free games, begins today.
Epic free game o’ the day is Neon Abyss
I am looking for the leak this year that will just tell me all 15 up front. Have yet to see it yet.
I’d never heard of Neon Abyss but it looks like fun.
Neon Abyss has a bright, neon pixel art look, but what’s most interesting about it is its item system. As in games like Enter the Gungeon and The Binding of Isaac, each run is determined as much by the weapons and items you pick up – and how they synergise with each other – as by the layout of the dungeon itself.
It takes a hilariously fanciful approach to weapon design, by the way. There are standard-issue guns that fire boring stuff like laser beams, but you’ll soon trade those in for the weirder weapons, like Jimmy and Terry – a pair of cats who fire splitting fish bones at your enemies. You can pick up active abilities like Awful Poetry, which damages all enemies in the current room when activated. Items run the full gamut, too – you might pick up a clown hat that gives you a chance of firing a fake rat from whatever gun you’re holding.
I’m going to install this and see if I actually enjoy it; the concept certainly sounds entertaining.
Press Any Button is free (again) on Steam. In case you missed it in June.
NOT FREE
But so close I thought it worth sharing.
The YouTube channel MandaloreGaming did a review of Homeworld Remastered (see below). Homeworld is one of my all-time favorite games and, I think, well worth playing if you like the genre.
MandaloreGaming seems to have a deal with GOG to sell the game for less than $2. I know that is not free but, to me, that is so close, and this game is so good, it is worth listing here. Hope everyone does not mind.
Link for $2 deal:
Not only do I not mind, I think I’ll pick it up. It looks nice.
I’m also itching to play Rebel Galaxy again after watching that.
And as a follow-up, I’ve bought it. $1.74 isn’t bad at all when it’s normally $34.99.
I envy you getting to play it for the first time. Really is good.
Note there is a player made mod the YouTube review mentions which seems worthwhile. Fans of the game tweaking it to be better. Not necessary but fixes some bugs and some other QoL things (recommended).
I caught that. I will definitely be installing that prior to playing. Some of the bugs looked kind of ugly, like having only one ship in a formation able to fire because they tried to shoehorn a newer engine onto an older game and formations worked differently between games.
But I’ve played Fallout and Elder Scrolls games for years, so I’m used to getting unofficial community patches to fix my games.
Neon Abyss is just the first one for their Holiday Sale. There will be a free game every day for the next 15 days. And discounts of course.
No, the first one was Shenmue III which was yesterday’s game. (And I grabbed that one too.)
Today’s free Epic game is Remnant: From the Ashes. I too am hoping for a list leak.
Epic Free Game of the Day: Loop Hero
(Not to be confused with DeathLoop)
Looks like tomorrow will be Second Extinction based on the skull design on the package.
Nice to get one from the wishlist.
It is indeed!

Available until 8 AM tomorrow I believe. Right now I think their servers are getting hammered because I’m having trouble downloading it.
