Yay! I need to go back and finish curse and escape now. I remember a bit going around on a ship, I wonder if I have a steam save from ten years ago…
Yes, but the new game will kind of be an alternate Monkey Island 3 and is being made by the original designer. However, the trailer included Murray the Skull, who only began appearing in the original Monkey 3. I think it is loose-with-the-canon Monkey Island 3 that does not entirely dismiss the original Monkey 3-5 games.
Should be fun, though. Original music composer and original Guybrush voice actor coming back, should be very fun.
Excellent, thanks. I wonder if the PC version has the same bug that makes the “finish the game with only 3 saves to win a pew pew gun” mode much easier.
Epic: Terraforming Mars
Corporations are competing to transform Mars into a habitable planet by spending vast resources and using innovative technology to raise temperature, create a breathable atmosphere, and make oceans of water. As terraforming progresses, more and more people will immigrate from Earth to live on Red Planet.
Epic: Jotun: Valhalla , Redout: Advanced edition and the absolutely excellent Prey again, I regard as one of the modern classics of the genre. All free this week. Let’s hope more triple game giveaways.
This week free on Epic is Borderlands 3, a game which I paid for not that long ago…
Me too. Dammit.
I am probably not even going to buy anything from Epic anymore. It’s weird to be mad about someone giving away free stuff, but somehow Epic is able to piss me off by making things free.
I had the same situation not long ago with another game. I had an Xbox gift card, and saw that the Guardians of the Galaxy game was on a discount, and I checked to make sure it wasn’t available on Game Pass (which I have a subscription to) and that there was no news about it going on Game Pass soon (because often they’ll announce upcoming items on the service). Nothing. So I bought it.
A week later it was on Game Pass.
I tried to rationalize that stuff on Game Pass doesn’t always stay there forever, and this way I really owned it. But I was just fooling myself.
I lucked out. I saw it on sale a while back and was going to buy it, but I hadn’t finished the first two yet so I held off. And then it came up here, so I got it for free.
BioShock: The Collection is now free on Epic Games.
I’m currently switching jobs, and have some accumulated overtime and leftover vacation—with this and Borderlands 3 from last week, I can already see all the incomplete projects I had been meaning to finish ‘when I get around to it’ staying in exactly the state they are now…
Sold!
I had always intended to play through a second time to see the ending if you took all the “bad” choices. Looks like I’m going to get around to it now.
If you are on Amazon Prime, they are giving away six(6!) games starting tomorrow:
Far Cry 4
Escape from Monkey Island
Calico
Across the Grooves
WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship
Astrologaster
Far Cry 4 and that Rally game caught my eye for sure. I own neither. I already have all the Monkey Island games and if you aren’t familiar, that is Monkey Island 4.
The others I don’t know that much about.
Far Cry 4 is my favorite of the series. Cleaned up the more annoying aspects of FC3 without the additional bloat of the later games. I still like them all but FC4 is the best in my opinion.
Yeah, Far Cry 4 is the best of them. I spend a good few hours going back to the one I had previously tried and dropped, Far Cry 2, due to people praising it and loving it. I can confirm it was bloody awful, and the problem was not being dated, it had just awful mechanics where you’d be fighting ten people who are pin point shots, somewhere in the forest you couldn’t see, then fight them ten minutes later on the way back from the mission. Horrible,
I didn’t realise some places publicised the free games on amazon prime, I forget about them and I’m pretty sure I’ve missed some because of that.
I keep Prime Gaming bookmarked, to get in-game freebies for games I play as well as being able to get new free games. But they don’t send announcements (as far as I know) so it’s nice to get notifications here.
I think FC4 will be a must for me.
See, that’s what I was talking about before. That one works the way that seems more honest and less and using less psychological tricks (ala how grocery stores arrange stuff.) It’s just a straight forward link that takes you to the game in question and lets you “buy” it normally, just for free. No making you go to the front page to see all the other deals. And the page that follows has full sized text rather than tiny text put on a banner that you can miss.
BTW, I just wish people were more aware of the types of stuff that advertisers do. I never said I wouldn’t get the free games. I just want people to see that GOG was using certain tactics so that they know not to fall for them in other cases. It’s good training. Ads are all about subtle manipulation of your wants and thoughts, so it’s good to keep a look out.
GOG was clearly doing it that way to hopefully push people to buy other games and not just get the freebie. That’s also the reason behind making signing up for their newsletter mandatory. I liked it better when they felt like they were above all that.
That’s was my point, and I felt it was getting lost. Now that I’ve made my point, I’ll shut up about it.
It looks as though Prime’s “free” Far Cry 4 is a one month period where you have to play it via Luna?
That’s terrible. Absolutely awful. I’d rather click a million GOG banners.
Wait, they aren’t doing the full free giveaway this month like they usually do? No key to access it on Steam or another launcher?
Not 100% sure. Sometimes games release a day or so late on Prime but right now it shows it under Luna as “Free game with Prime” which makes me think this might be how they’re offering it. Which is lousy if that’s the case. No one wants your Luna, Amazon! Not even for an eight year old game.
Tell Me Why is free to keep on Steam through the month of June for Pride month
Full game (I think usually Chapter 1 is always free)
