False alarm. Far Cry 4 DID eventually come up as a real to-own offer. Activates directly via Ubi Connect.
Wolfenstein - The new order free on Epic this week.
If you’ve not played it, and like 3d shooters, this is a good one. The best of the series (IMHO Old Blood next, New Colossus next and Youngblood had so many bugs I gave up), and rebooted the series into modern gaming, of stealth and shooting in a world run by Nazis.
today diablo immortal launches on mobile and on PC via battle net and its “free to play”
Also, head writer was a former Doper.
It might be on Luna, but I claimed it with no mention of Luna. The only catch is it gets added to Ubisoft’s client Ubisoft Connect, and you need to link your Amazon Prime and Ubisoft accounts. This is what I saw after I claimed it:
Once you have successfully linked your Ubisoft Connect account with your Amazon Prime account, launch Ubisoft Connect on your PC. Then, go to your game library where your offer will be available for download.
What I did was go to Prime Gaming scroll down to “Games, free with Prime”, look for Far Cry 4 (it was first on my list under that heading), and click on the blue (IIRC) claim button to start the process.
That changed later in the day. Initially it was only being offered on Luna from the Amazon Prime page. When I checked it later, it was offering it from Uplay. I grabbed it at that point.
It’s true. I was disappointed at first, but Amazon course corrected and just gave it away free like normal. It is in my Uplay library now.
Sanitarium free on GOG. You’ll have to click a banner off the front page and stuff.
Our free Epic game of the week is Maneater where you play a shark and eat mans just like the label says.
Without being snarky, “free” is a solid price for this fun but repetitive game. Something you might enjoy but find hard to recommend that others drop $20 on.
Well I’m certainly excited about it.
I played it for free a long while back, through Xbox Game Pass.
It was solid fun, I really loved the little stories when you found landmarks. They were hilarious, really sick humor. And the action was great, and the powerups very impactful. The game is pretty short, though. It didn’t take me long to completely max out everything for my shark, defeat every enemy, and complete every single achievement.
On a positive note, it’s rare these days that I can completely finish every single thing in a game. It was very satisfying. And my electric monster shark that teleported was freaking awesome. Especially taking out human hunters. It was a rush. Particularly when you think back to your start as a little baby hiding from everything.
As a free game, I highly recommend it. 10/10. I wouldn’t pay too much for it though, since you won’t get too many gameplay hours out of it.
yeah, we have it on game pass also … I know there’s an expansion out there for it too but after all the crappy shark games over the years it’s nice to have one that mostly delivered … and the funny and snarky social commentary narration is worth listening to also
Maneater is (or looks to be after a few minutes chomping around) awesome, thanks for the recommendations. Pairs excellently with subnautica, which I’m also currently playing. Also via the epic store because it was free. Which I only knew about because of this very thread. It comes full circle.
My only issue is I reverse the controller triggers for subnautica, so I have to change it each time if I want to hop between games. Apparently I can’t just leave them reversed because one of the combos in maneater is right trigger + left shoulder. Reversed that ends up being left trigger + left shoulder, which doesn’t work. It was at that point in the tutorial I bailed, but I’m already hooked. Looks awesome.
Currently free is Venetica: Gold Edition on GOG. Usual terms and conditions apply.
Also free to keep is Ninja Stealth on Steam. A top-down little stealth puzzler.
Crucial is giving away Kingdom Wars 4: The Plague on their site. Limited number of keys, you’ll need to make an account on Crucial and link your account to Steam (quick and harmless)
Giveaway was fresh as of this posting and maybe 20% claimed but these go fast
I’m trying but confused. I created a crucial account fine. How do I link my steam account? Okay, nevermind, it’s linked.
God dammit, out of keys. There were keys when I started trying to make my account but I guess it took too long.
That crucial site is a piece of garbage. Wouldn’t accept a “securely generated password” from Firefox because it “wasn’t secure.” Go fuck yourself, crucial.
Ah, damn. Sorry for the hassle. I deliberated if I should post it but sometimes they last a couple hours and I thought maybe someone could benefit.
No worries, and it was worth posting.
What even is the crucial site? Aren’t they a RAM and SSD company? I was just so confused the whole time…
Yeah, but some tech type companies have giveaways to drive up the mailing list numbers and that sort of thing. Community engagement, yadda yadda. Intel sometimes has offers as well. Or some of them have free games but you need a certain community level gained by posting on the forums and shit – I don’t bother with any of that.
