Rob Hale (aka Squid in a Box), the developer of twin-stick shooters Waves and Waves 2, died earlier this month and wished for his games to be made free.
On a happier note, Steam added a simple “Add to Library” button for free titles rather than making you go through the song and dance of starting/canceling the game install.
No it wasn’t. “The Ultimate Doom” was Doom 1.5. (It was the original three Doom episodes plus a fourth episode called “Thy Flesh Consumed”.)
Doom 64 is a proper Doom 3. The game released as Doom 3 was really just a rework of Doom 1 or possibly a prequel to it depending on whom you’re asking. (A solidly defined timeline isn’t really Id Software’s thing.) Doom 64 takes place after Doom II and all UAC facilities have been locked down in quarantine by Earth.
While being bored waiting for for an Epic update, which have been frankly boring recently, I came across the info for Septembers Prime gaming which was supposedly leaked: Assassin’s CreedOrigins, Football Manager 2022, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, The Dig, Defend the Rook, We. The Revolution, Castle on the Coast, and Word of the Law: The Death Mask Collector’s Edition.
It might make you consider whether to get them, and cancel before September 15th when the prime price goes up.
No idea. Probably just marketing. If it were to have any meaning then I’d think the soundtrack needs to have been composed by John Williams or AC/DC or some high profile name. I am going with BS marketing term.
(although there are certainly outstanding game soundtracks and bad ones and everything in-between)
Here we are just two weeks later. I’ve been having so much fun with Frostpunk that I splurged for the expansions. I could have re-bought the Game of the Year edition on GOG for $14, but decided to just stick with $9 for all the expansions in the epic store, since they are currently on sale for like 75% off for the next week.
So okay, the free giveaway of the base game directly led to me paying money for all the expansions that go with it. At a steep discount, but still. I’m starting to see the method to their madness.
I know this is a thread about free games but I hope it is ok to suggest a game on a super-deep discount.
Titanfall 2 is currently on sale on Steam for $4.79. I think that is a very good price for a very good game. The single-player campaign is short but very good. I do not play the multiplayer but I have read that is a lot of fun too.
That’s not free but I think less than $5 is not too much. YMMV
It may not be everyone’s bag but for those who like this sort of game it is definitely worth a look.
