Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

I have no problem with multiplayer games even if I do not care for them. There are lots of people who love them and that’s great! If they are having fun then more power to them.

My issue is the trend for publishers to move to games as a service and multiplayer only because it makes them more money and are easier to make. I’m also not keen on developers spending time crowbarring multiplayer into games because they need to tick a box for sales.

Didn’t someone at EA say single player games were dead? (and they have since walked that back)

Speaking of multiplayer games, Vermintide 2 is currently free from Steam.

Wow, that’s big. Vermintide 2 is a lot of fun, especially co-op.

Fallout New Vegas is free on Amazon Prime Gaming.

Alba - A Wildlife Adventure and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun are Epic’s freebies for this week.

Dark Deity and quite suprisingly Evil dead: the game are on Epic this week. The latter is a surprise because it was only released in May 2022, and I’ve had friends interested in getting it before.

Holy shit, I figured I’d have to wait a couple years for a deep discount on Evil Dead. Sweet!

I know this is the “Free PC Game” thread but on occasion we mention a paid game on a deep discount.

When I grabbed the Fallout New Vegas above from Amazon Prime Gaming I redeemed it on GOG and noticed that they are selling XCOM 2 for 90% off. List price is $60 but they are selling it for $6.

XCOM 2 is a fantastic game (with the usual caveat that you like this sort of game). If you enjoy turn-based tactics games this is one of the best there is. This is an outrageously good price for it.

Absolutely agreed. I put it up there as one of the best games I’ve ever played: it’s simply spectacular, and just seeing it listed makes me want to reinstall it and give it another few dozen hours of my life.

XCOM 2 is one of the very few games that has an near permanent place on my PC (my Steam/Epic/GOG/Origin/Ubisoft/Battlenet libraries are far to big to have all games installed so I need to rotate games in and out but XCOM 2 almost always stays installed). It’s just that good.

this is the funniest review ive seen in a while although people post a lot of this type in the “adult games” section

this is one for what seems to be a “onlyfans tycoon clicker game” where a model hires you to be a director/producer of her content …

Ok…I’ll admit it. I clicked on that link.

There were three previous versions?!

…okay. But why post it in this thread? I thought at least the guy was going to say he got the game for free or something, or that it would be a free game.

Splinter Cell (originally) is free from Ubisoft until the 30th. Launches via Ubi’s client

Maybe I missed it but Ubisoft forced me to download the game to get the game (rather than just add it to my list of games).

I started and then stopped the download but it was annoying that they forced it to happen.

GOG is giving away the game Narita Boy for a limited time.

It’s a side-scrolling, sword-slashing retro game reminiscent of old '90s games like Flashback or Out of this World. (Pixel art stuff.) Seems decent for a freebie.

Free Epic game of the week is Star Wars: Squadrons which has been free several times in the past so hardly a major event but worth grabbing if if you didn’t get it the previous times.

Terrior, a vineyard tycoon game, is free on GOG. Click through product page to get to the giveaway banner on the main site.

I was surprised when I nabbed the free game on Epic that installing it launched the Origin Game Launcher.

I have that on my system but still…WTF?
