Free PC game and free weekend notification thread

never alone is a rerun as i already have it

Epic’s freebies for this week are Breathedge and Poker Club.

Under the Moon is free from GOG for the next few days.

A very cute game, though game is pushing it. It’s mostly an interactive story, but a very short and nice one.

Edit: NO! I was wrong. I was thinking of “To the Moon”.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have paid for it, but it seems fun enough for a freebie. I like puzzles and riddles.

I was wrong, it was To the Moon that was a cute story.

Epic’s freebies for this week:

Against All Odds
Horizon Chase Turbo
Kao the Kangaroo

Horizon Chase Turbo has been on the freebies list before.

wow a week of meh …

against all odds… let’s rip off fall guys and wipeout the game show but our twist is making it a death race

Kao the Kangaroo… except for Ratchet and Clank, sly cooper, sonic, and the odd Spyro/crash bandicoot remaster/remake didht these animal mascot games die with the ps2 in the early 00s?

horizon chase turbo was a fun little snes/genesis style arcade racer the first time or two we seen it …

Agreed. I didn’t bother to grab any of them.

Hotshot Racing is free on Fanatical for a week or until supplies run out. Newsletter sign-up and Steam account link required (neither of which is any big deal but now you know).

Sherwood Extreme is a f2p game that the developers are changing to a paid game in the near future. So grab it now and have it when it goes paid and it’ll be like a free paid game.

Epic this week has no free games. First time seen this (apart from the time they announced an addon, then an hour later added a real game).

It has a sims4 addon: The Sims 4 The Daring Lifestyle Bundle.

Ok, they’ll never get me to play another Sims. It was hugely successful with non gamers (perhaps Sims 2), but I played enough Sims 1 to know it wasn’t a game, nothing much but do some stuff, get bored, watch someone and imagine someone watching you. Felt creepy didn’t see a point to it. So 4th iteration in, still no interest.

Epic’s “mystery” free game this week is Death Stranding. Again. Though I guess it was a one day only freebie last time. If you don’t have it, it’s definitely worth picking up though.

Metro: Last Light is free for the next week. It’s the older (not remastered) version but comes complete with the DLC and still a great story-based first-person shooter. Was my favorite game from the trilogy.

Picked that one up pre-release. Fun play but I got distracted before I finished it.

It’s probably been a long time coming, but I don’t expect much from Epic anymore. The type of games it could give away that I’d be interested in has probably hit its limit, so it’s repeats and with add-on packs, it will likely those now or be games I’d not bother playing (got about 100 odd of those from previous giveaways). It was a good run, and I don’t begrudge them doing this, it had to happen eventually. I will maybe miss a decent one and forgot to check every Thursday now.

I think when they gave away Grand Theft Auto V, they kind of reached the peak. I’m not sure what is bigger than that, but that was certainly a near-peak moment for them.

I think their best free game was when they gave away Total War: Troy on the day it released.

I was gong to grab this but in the process realized I already have Last Light: Redux.

I should probably play it some time.

I would take this opportunity to recommend the Metro books.

Since the latest (and last Season 1) DLC has released I have revisted the game and I have to agree with @Johnny_Bravo on this.

The game starts slow and plays like many card games but, as you progress, you have a lot of opportunity to modify your cards and add other buffs to your play. Combined with each hero you have (of which there are plenty) and you get a frankly really interesting game of trying to build synergies (strategies and tactics). That’s where the fun is (IMO). And those synergies do exist.

The ability to modify cards and add other buffs and use different heroes who each has their own style/benefits and mixing and matching them makes this something different from a typical card game even if it is one at its base.

I’ll grant the game is not for everyone. But, I think there is more here than is apparent on first glance.

For most, I would recommend waiting for a sale or even deep sale. But, I will say there is a good game in here. A fun tactical game.

YMMV
