I played this a lot back in the day, be interesting to see if it still holds up.
If you haven’t checked out the Free section at GOG, it’s worth a look, a couple of vintage gems in that list
Not much luck yet. It runs but pretty much immediately crashes. I’ve tried a couple of fixes, like setting it to run in Windows 7 compatability and even editing the registry to make it run in windowed mode, but the most I’ve gotten out of it so far is running it with low graphics settings - which kind of defeats the purpose of running a 20 year old game on a new laptop. I’ll keep playing hacker like I know what I’m doing and see if I can find a fix.
System Shock is being given away on GOG for the next few days. I never did play the original. I’ve read a few good things about this re-release, but who knows; I don’t really trust reviews by gamer mags.
Great game. An early favorite of mine. Although my heart is with System Shock 2.
Know that a re-made System Shock (not free, you have to pay) has just hit the market (released today). I have seen some reviews of it…not bad, not great but mostly positive. Kinda depends on what you expect from a re-make.
But it costs $40 (too much IMHO but YMMV).

Hmm, when I checked earlier today it was just a multimedia pack based off art assets from the new game.

I’m with you. It looks good, but not $40 good. Wishlisted to be notified when it’s on sale.

Great game. It’s quite involved though. And, like all Paradox games they make their money on loads of DLC.
Worth getting IMO.
CKII has been free to play on Steam for a while.
I thought I already had that game somewhere.
