(I love ambigrams, and I thought of this years ago when l was waiting for an elevator at some hotel. The two buttons, with “down” truncated as such, just struck me as the the most mundane yet coolest thing ever: Opposites, as opposites. I just never knew what to do with that revelation. I pointed it out to my friend some while later… he looked at me like I was an alien.)

Funny… I almost typeset it that way, but in my head, I hear it as “up and down”, then I realized the plus sign is a nice replacement for the asymmetrical ampersand.
If I were to change mine, I would go the Seinfeld route and make something pretentious, like Dr. Van Nostrand or something.
My second choice when I registered was The Hostile Amishman.

I thought for sure I was following a doper on the interstate, since the chances of a vanity plate with 4 random letters in the same order as a doper username has to be more than coincidence.
Then, I found that the letters actually are not random. Musta been following a printer.

Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
We once had a new user calling himself Hottentot Potentate. Unfortunately, some called out the first word as racist (which was news to me), otherwise I’d consider that clever.
I’m still partial to my old name, Doghouse Reilly. I wish I could go back to it sometimes.
It was Venus Hottentot (a reference to Sarah Baartman), and it was Nzinga, Seated’s first user name. She chose it to show her love for beautiful big black things, but “Hottentot” is now considered an offensive term for the Khoisan people, and we have other posters who’d had it thrown at them as a term of abuse before, so they didn’t think it was quite as harmless.
I didn’t know that. But there was a poster using the name I mentioned: apparently banned after just three posts.
