French fries and mayonnaise: yum!

Really not much more to say. Perhaps you regard mayo on fries as some sort of aberrant behavior?

I’ll pray for you.

Also, poutine: a little off-topic, but yum, too.

I’ma have to agree on this one. For the longest time I thought it was nasty, but then I ran across a Dutch-style falafel place in DC that had the right kind of mayonnaise for the fries, and it worked. I’m sure my cholesterol level skyrocketed after that discovery.

Also hell YES for poutine.

I’ll raise you a Garlic mayo and cheese on chips/fries. Yum!

Mayonnaise tastes good on most any kind of savory food that is commonly dipped.

I have yet to try poutine.

I choose mayo for Chick-Fil-A waffle fries. Mmmmmmmm! Garlic mayo on fries is awesome.

I was converted when I lived in Germany - still need a good dollop of ketchup too, although unlike my wife I never mix mayo and ketchup on the plate (fine to double-dip a chip, but marie rose sauce just doesn’t work).

Aagghh! Aagggghhhh! AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Thump.

I became addicted to fries & mayo in Belgium. Homemade mayo in no way resembles the stuff on the shelf. People who gag at the idea also hate potato salad, apparently.

I have liked mayo on fries to the dismay of people for over 20 years now…

If you like poutine and happen to be in Toronto go and visit Smoke’s.

tartar sauce and chips … =)

Ack! No, Please, No!
I’ll talk, I’ll talk!
What do you want to know? Mama’s cell number, her PIN?
I’ll talk, just take it away!

I had fries and mayonaise in Holland. It’s good, I’m not a big fan of ketchup anyway. However, it felt like about the most unhealthy thing I could possibly eat.

What kind of mayo do you recommend?

I’m a recent convert to mayo and dill relish (or slices of no dill relish) on hamburgers.

I like fries with mayo. Even better, Ranch dressing. I’ll often go to McD’s and get chicken selects, fries, and TWO Ranch dips. And a side of Lipitor.

Ugh. Ranch. It’s why the world hates America.

Garlic mayo (otherwise known as aioli) is definitely the tastiest.

Damn, I really want me some fries and aioli now…

Or just throw some black peper on the mayo and dip away. Mmmmmm, good.

I’m with the English here, and think malt vinegar is perhaps the best condiment to go with French fries, giving that nice acidic counterpoint to the deep-fried taters. That said, I have been known to indulge in the occasional frites w/ mayo. In theory, I shouldn’t like them – just seems like overkill on the fat front – but it does work, especially with aioli, or black pepper mayo, as mentioned above.

If you’re ever in my little community of Decatur, Georgia, you’ll have to stop by Leon’s. Notice the pub frites come with a choice of no less than five different kinds of mayonnaise!

Great cocktails, too!

In New York, near St. Mark’s, there’s this awesome place, pomme frites, with the best fries and all kinds of toppings (I think Mayo is default, but there’s also bleu cheese, or mustard, or honey mustard, just…all kinds). I’m so jonesing now.
