I myself like a 3 part catsup/ 1 part mustard, mixed to an even orange color. And no poupon/hot/oriental mustards; just plain, bright yellow mustard mixed with ordinary catsup.
BTW, my wife thinks I’m a freak. She also has to hurry to dip and eat my fries in the catsup before I have a chance to add the mustard. :D:D
Fries from McDonald’s might need a little salt if the guy behind the counter didn’t add enough, but I rarely add ketchup. For fries from other sources, ketchup is generally the way to go.
Personally, I feel that ketchup is bad. No hyperbole, just bad. When it comes to fries, I like malt vinegar on them. Although, that’s only when I have them with fish and chips. When I am eating them with a burger, I take 'em plain.
I found this stuff at the Asian grocery store called “sweet chili ketchup.” Same recipe as regular ketchup, but with chili peppers instead of tomatoes. It rocks on fries/chips!
Hot sauce, salsa, hot mustard, wasabi or horseradish, peppers, barbecue sauce, yellow mustard and/or tomato ketchup. Seperately or all together depending upon mood and what’s on the table. Prefer no salt most times, sometimes there is so much salt built up in the fry service apparatus that this is impossible.
Getting the dipping sauces made for the chicken pieces is fun for the fast food experience, like barBQ. Some afternoons only ketchup will do. Sometimes I like to eat a jalapeno with the fries, or a garden fresh habanero. The fat from the fries cuts the heat of the pepper for a sweaty non-lethal little mouth orgy.
Ho-lee shite… if you can get french fries from A&W Root Beer Stand and get the meatball sauce from a Subway you have a match made in heaven… ::DROOL:: I have both of those eateries next to each other in a Mall where I used to live and one day my sub dripped sauce on my fries…
Depends on the fries. I usually eat fries from Wendy’s plain. Thick steak fries must be dipped in ranch dressing or cheese sauce. While in Europe, I was intrigued by the Belgian custom of fries with mayonnaise. Of course, sometimes I’ll use ketchup, but as I’ve gotten older, I tend to like it less.
And I dip my tater tots in yellow mustard. Everybody thinks I’m a freak for doing that.
