What do I replace ketchup with for french fries?

I have lost my taste for ketchup with french fries - it’s too sweet for my taste. I don’t like mayonnaise at all, so what else can I use to eat with french fries?

(And I don’t always have chocolate ice cream available, no matter how tasty it is with fries. )

Two words: Malt vinegar. You’ll thank me later.

Heinz 57 or a not-too-sweet BBQ sauce.

I love the taste of malt vinegar, but it makes the fries too soggy. I can only eat french fries if they’re extra extra crispy.

I like dijon mustard or hummus as dips for my fries. Honey drizzled on them is good too. Or guacamole.

Damn, now I’m craving some fries in the worst way!

option A: salt and malt vinegar (seconded)
option B: salt and ground black pepper

Oh, yeah, some of that green garlic sauce they serve with fried plantains at the pollo places.

ranch dressing!

Good for what ails you.

Snuffer’s serves them covered with Cheddar cheese and bacon bits and you dip 'em into Original Buttermilk Ranch Dressing. It’ll make a chihuahua break his chain.

Came here to say salt and malt vinegar but was well beaten.

An altertnative then, use garlicy mayonase as a dip with the fries, also dipping fries into lightly cooked egg yolks (poached or fried) is lovely if very bad health-wise.

Just an upgrade to Chilli Ketchup can be good as well.

Tartar sauce, and another vote for the malt vinegar.

Wendy’s Frostie, trust me it’s really good.

I just eat 'em with salt. Why screw up a perfectly tasteless salt-delivery vehicle like a fried potato with some sort of sauce?

Have you ever tried homemade mayo? It’s a completely different animal from the strangely congealed stuff you buy in jars. The cafe at Nordstrom makes a kickass french fry dip of mayo and kalamata olives, yum!
