Lately I’ve been getting redirects to the virus warming redirect pages. Back button doesn’t work and I’ve had had to exit the browser to get rid of it. Happens on both my Android tablet and phone. Screenshot of browsing history showing address of pages below.
Same thing for me. I can’t even go back to get to the page I was on - it just redirects to the offending site over and over again. I have to kill the tab and start over.
Oops. Yeah, I meant kill the tab, not exit the browser. I can usually go back to the page I was reading with no more problems. But this has happened maybe 6 or 7 times in the last two days.
If the redirects are similar to those illustrated on this page then it’s malware. There are instructions there for removing the malware from Android phones and I’m sure there are similar instructions out there for other phones. (NB I haven’t tried this myself so best advice may be to compare different sites for malware removal.)
No, they aren’t similar to those apart from having scary looking virus warnings. That article describes push ads that appear in the notification bar. These redirects only happen when a tab is open on a Dope page, and only in that tab. They never happen if there is no SD tab open. They look just like the fake virus ads that a lot of dodgy sites pop up to try to trick you into downloading malware.
This something that needs to be addressed by the site administration. Since I got the original hijack I turned on my VPN while I surfed around the site. In 20 minutes the VPN tracked over 400 attempted ad trackers. Ridiculous.
