Widget is not our cat, but we’re looking after her. She’s a stray, of sorts (our neighbours keep having cats that they don’t spay or neuter and keep having litters, which they then let roam the streets), and once the kittens are old enough we’ll be taking her and any who aren’t adopted by us or my family to a shelter to be spayed and neutered and hopefully be adopted out by new families.
Here is the one we want to keep. We may call her Sprocket (after momma Widget and two other cats I’ve owned in my past, Gadget and Gizmo). We may call her Treacle (Because we already have Honey, and she’s darker than Honey).
These are the Twins. So called because they’re both grey. Original neh?
He is the Ginger Ninja. He’s a bit… Um… Special. He has to be reminded that teats aren’t found under momma’s tail.
And this little darling is the one my mum wants. You can’t really see it but she’s got a real tiger stripe pattern, with some orangey-brown and black stripes.
If I had my druthers we’d keep them all. But hubby has expressly forbidden me from becoming a crazy cat lady, at least while he’s alive. So we’ll raise them up to be friendly and nice so they’ll stand a better chance of being adopted out when we take them to the shelter.
This looks like the perfect thread to introduce my new feral rescue kitten, Tony. Here he is again taking a well-deserved nap with my other cat, Pepper.
I seem to be the kitten whisperer at work. A previous shift decided to keep a healthy stray kitten until we can find a no kill shelter for it so I took it out of the cage yesterday to play with it and socialize it because it seemed to be shy. Whenever anyone else walked in the room it ran back to me for protection. I was sitting on the floor with it and it would sit in my lap and look up at me and meow like I was supposed to understand what it was saying. When that didn’t work it would climb up my shirt and try to bury itself in my neck. I had it out again to play today and it was braver but kept running back to me, so a co-worker says “Aww, he loves you.”, another co-worker says “he thinks your his mommy”. I am not the mamma! He’s adorable with his cute chubby face and fuzzy body but there is no more room for kitties in my home and kittens always grow into cats.
So anyone in the Tampa Bay area need a cute black and white kitten? He’s mostly black with white chin, whiskers, paws, belly and a thin streak of white down the middle of his face. His eyes are still blue but he’s old enough to eat on his own. I will try to remember to take my camera to work tomorrow and get some pictures.
