Fridge question- where's all this water coming from?

Way too much for simple condenstation… the stuff gets in the drawers, on the shelves… It’s a mess. No water hookup for ice cube maker, no spilled water bottles. It’s really driving us nuts. Any helpful appliance types out there?

Perhaps not, if you have a leaky door seal.

Your defrost drain is probably plugged. Look at the rear of the refrigerated section near the top, there shelf by cup below the defrost tray under the freezer compartment. Remove the cup, and see if it is plugged with ice or other debris. Clean and replace. Your problem should be solved.

“there should be a cup”

It’s possible the draneage tube has gotten blocked up. In our fridge water collects from the freezer (by design - I think 'cause it’s a frost-free fridge, but anyhow…) through to the top of the fridge compartment, then through a u-bend in the back, then down a tube out the back to a tray in the bottom, where I suppose it just evaporates.

The u-bend got blocked with crud once, and the water started dripping down through the fridge compartment and out the front on to the floor. IIRC, we fixed it by a combination of pipecleaners, and blowing air up the tube from a bicycle pump (make sure to cover the other end with paper towels if you do that, or you’ll get crud inside the fridge), then flushing with water.

On preview, it sounds simiolar to what Fear Itself describes.

It’s most likely the drain, but another cause can be overloading your box. Food gets pushed to the back of the fridge and creates an air circulation problem.

It’s probably both problems… It’s a small fridge with food for 6 adults. I’ll try defrosting and clearing out some food. Thanks to all for the replies!
