Fringe 2/3/12 "Making Angels"

I think you’re talking about two different scenes. The transcript you posted is from the return from commercial break; in that scene, I thought it was quite clear that Neil says “I told you.” Yes, he doesn’t move his lips much, but you can definitely hear and see him say it.

But the scene I believe Jormungandr is referencing takes place just before the commercial break, where there’s a quick cut to the Chung residence after Peter and Olivia have their conversation at the Reiden Lake cabin about saviors. Peter says, “So where is Neil?” and Olivia hands him the picture of Neil and his mother. We then cut to the Chung residence where Neil is opening the safe to put away the Observer’s device and getting the gun. He walks into the room where his mother sits watching television and she says “Where are you going? I don’t understand. What do you mean, you are here to say good-bye?” In this scene, Neil is completely silent. As Iggins noted, the delivery of the mother’s line is a bit odd, and it’s obvious they had a conversation before we see them. There is a commercial break here, and when we return we see the rest of the conversation starting with the lines you quoted.

Which means the conversation as we see it went roughly like this:

I suppose it’s not out of the ordinary to have a mother repeat a question her son has not answered, but it does appear strange, especially with the way those lines were read.

But was it established ON SCREEN in an actual episode, or just in other materials such as scripts and such? I agree they have been called that for a while now, but I just don’t recall it on the show and would appreciate some examples if this actually did happen so I could refresh my memory.

I seem to recollect it in the episode August

You’re right, that was the scene. My mistake.

The trivia says “Names of two of the new Observers were not mentioned in the episode” but doesn’t say which names, if any were mentioned (other than saying they were in the credits). If there’s something in the article mentioning them using names in dialogue, could you please quote it, that’s a long page.

According to Fringepedia the known Observers:
[ul]
[li]The Observer, known for his mission around the Bishops’ and Olivia. Seriously wounded (Back To Where You’ve Never Been) with what appears to be a gunshot to the chest.[/li][li]August, who fell in love with Christine Hollis and may have died as a result.[/li][li]December, seemingly the senior of the group, appears to lend some level of supervision to the others.[/li][li]July, whose activity has been to report August’s misconduct.[/li][/ul]

Looking at “Making Angels” there’s also March, who was with December.

So, five named Observers.

I couldn’t quote it if I were watching it right now - I recall during one episode the different observers referring to each other by the month names. For some reason, the episode entitled august is the one that comes to my mind -based atleast partially on the description.

There was another similar episode where they were discussing the entire peter principle - might have been the one where they had to help walter ‘let go’ - where i think individual observers names were used - specifically when the old observer talked to the younger one about what to do with the troublemaking one.

thats the best I got - could be wrong, could be right - don’t rightly care one way or the other - I’m just praying the end of the series is worth the hoopla.
