Pretty good episode. Looks like our Lee may get a shot with Fauxlivia.
Of course to me the most interesting thing is; What happened between alt-Astrid and colonel Broyles?
Oh, and Peter was next to non-existent in this episode.
True. I was hoping we would get 15 minutes of him standing in a pasture watching a cow. 
A lot of dopers seem to hate Peter, so this must have been a great episode for them. 
I really liked this episode. Then again, I’m inclined to like episodes in the alternate universe. Seeing all the little differences, like Batman vs. Mantis, is good fun.
At first I thought she figured out he was a crook.
Then realized she was shook up about alt-Lincoln dying.
Wish there was more doper discussion on this show, I could use some help with the story. I love Fringe but it really confuses me.
Oh, of course :smack:. I was thinking more sinister things, like her figuring out that he’s a shape shifter, or maybe she’s one too.
I’m glad she’s OK. I like her character.
I’m a big fan of the show (except for the stupid Peter got erased and came back plot). Maybe I can fill you in. What do you want to know?

I think this episode and the one with Altstrid are exactly what I was hoping for when we first found out about the two universes. I loved the scene where the two Lincolns were trying to figure out why they were so different.
One of the better episodes of the season. Odd, considering two of the principles were hardly in it.
One issue I had was “our” Lee’s suddenly manufactured identity-crisis issues.
- Lee never had them before
- His questions to Otherlee were just retarded. Peter’s 28. Say he was 4 when Walter stole him from Walternate. Assuming Lees were about 30, that means that the two worlds diverged radically when Otherlee was about 6 years old. Chaos, death, catastrohe, city blocks being frozen in amber and so on. The environmental factors are more than enough to cause divergence.
Plus, an interesting factor is that both Fauxlivia and Otherlee are less…“uptight” than their regular counterparts. Both Lee and Olivia are so tightly wound that they could be mainsprings for a clock. Fauxlivia and Otherlee were much, MUCH mellower.
Fauxlivia and OtherLee work in a world where Fringe Division is known, public and the members are ‘heros’ - notsomuch our Olivia and Lee.
Yes, I’m too lazy to look this up.
My show listings on Directv are referring to Fauxlivia as Bolivia. Does anyone know where this comes from? Is it “A” Olivia is in our world and “B” Olivia is in the alternate world? Or is it something different?

My assumption was that it was an autocorrected mistake.
I didn’t have a problem with his identity crisis. I’m fairly happy with how my life is, but if I met an alternate universe version of me who was more confident and successful I might question myself a bit.
You have a point though about the environmental factors being different which would obviously cause differences in their lives and how they turned out. But that’s always something that’s bothered me with alternate universe stories. If the parallel universes are different enough, why are there the same people in both, even if the people are different? With different wars, economies, cultures, and everything else, there’d be people in one universe who choose to have fewer kids or kids at different times or people who died before having kids compared to the other universe where those people had kids. So then I start wondering if it’s because of fate that the two universes are similar enough, or that there’s infinite parallel universes and just these two happen to be similar from what we’ve seen, then I realize it’s just a convention and I should just go with it for the sake of the story.
Regarding Bolivia, I think I read somewhere (maybe the AV Club?) that that’s how the show writers refer to her, so that might be why other places have referred to her that way. And it has been a while since she was pretending to be “our” Olivia, so she’s not really “Faux” Olivia anymore.
But their lies were still remarkably the same until at least college. And the worlds were still very different well before Walter stole Peter.
Really, I hope they dive a bit more into the fate vs. free will argument that Alt Lincoln brought up. If you look at the map to America in the alt universe, the universes must have been different since at least the 1800’s. But the two universes are still remarkably the same.
I thought of that too; it’s really surprising that the massive divergence didn’t affect where the father worked or who they took to prom, for that matter.
By the way, I continue to be impressed at the acting - the two Lees come off as completely different people.
