Just one thing I’m curios about. After crossing over back to our side, what caused her to return to the other side?
Frankly it just feels like a cheap plot device to keep her over on the other side for a while longer. I mean, I know that they’re trying to make it suspenseful and we’re probably supposed to think, “I’ll be Walternate is on to her*. I wonder if she’ll make it back to our universe permanently, or if Walternate will stop her.” But actually, for me, I’m disappointed they chose this route.
*When she said that the second time nothing happened and she just saw black, the look on Walternate’s face was that he knew, or suspected, that she was lying.
I’m still confused as well - if she was a physical entity on our side, what was hooked up to all the gizmos in the tank? Wouldn’t they have registered her leaving and returning?
From now on, I’m calling Brandon the science boy ‘Beaker’. And does Alt-rid have Asperger’s or something? When she goes into Data-mode, she won’t look anyone in the eye.
The cheap plot device, as far as I’m concerned, is Head Peter. ‘We’re contractually obligated to have Joshua Jackson in every episode! Think of something! Hallucination? Awesome!’ But the World Without Pens? Love it.
This whole thing with Olivia being trapped on the other side is starting to get cliche. For a while I was OK with the plot lasting a while, but now I’m starting to feel that they should end it and get Olivia back over here, like I know they will.
They could surprise me and keep her or kill her, and since Anna Torv plays her alternate version, she’d still be in the show. But I seriously doubt it. As far as I’m concerned Olivia will return home. I’m just starting to think it should happen sooner rather than later.
Which of course leads to the conclusion that if there is one parallel universe, why not three, nine, or 74,623?
They haven’t noted where Nina is over there, or Lincoln over here. Maybe he’s just some ne’er do well son of a SC justice. Thoughts on alt Nina? Amberized Harvard professor?
I looked up the cast in IMDB, and I didn’t realize that Astrid’s last name is Farnsworth. It’s probably not, but it would be funny if it was a nod to Futurama.
Well, she needed the help of the other test kids to cross over to the redverse permanently, back when she was going over accidentally, it was like how they show here, she was in alt-Broyles office, then back in norm-Broyles office. She probably has to build up her power or something to fully cross without rubberbanding back.
I think the producers said there are other universes, but they aren’t going to ever show any of them, just these two.
Probably both referencing the same real Farnsworth. As does Warehouse 13.
Having seen this episode, I’m now a little but unsure about what was going on in that episode, when she kept flashing to the other universe and people were mistaking her for alt-Olivia. Was she replacing alt-Olivia, switching places with her, taking over her mind, or were they both there and Alt-Olivia just happened to not be at work that day? And what was happening to Olivia’s body on our side when she flashed over there?
Original Olivia rubber-banded jumped to our universe, ending up in the gift shop at Ellis Island since that’s the mirror position before rubber banding back to the Dept. of Defense lab in the alt-universe.
I sure hope the Defense lab is on the first floor. Cause it would really suck to pop into existence somewhere in the sky. How come she was sprawled in a tank of water in the alt world, but standing perfectly upright after switching universes?
Why does she always end up in an open area, instead of being teleported halfway inside a wall or other object? In a previous episode, when a building popped into existence, one unlucky person was teleported into another person.
If the floor is just an inch higher, your feet could end up stuck inside a floor. What about insects and airborne objects like pollen and bacterium? Are they popped into Olivia? What about the air mass she takes over?
Why was Olivia fully clothed after teleport? If the field is not skin tight, why didn’t a significant amount of water come with her from the tank?
If Olivia spent several seconds in her home universe, how come she didn’t disappear from the alt-universe long enough for Walternate and the lab monkey to notice? She should have popped away, leaving a void for the water to rush into. But then when she popped back, how did she displace the water? What happened to the water in the spot she now occupies?
Oh that’s right… this is a television show that they have to be able to actually film on a reasonable budget. That explains it!
Despite the physical/logical problems of Olivia transporting from one side to the other, the story’s becoming tedious. They should hurry up and resolve this dual Olivia thing and move on with the rest of the plot. That isn’t to say none of it has been interesting, it’s just I feel like I’ve been waiting several episodes for the characters to catch up with what I already know will happen (in a broad way).
Otherwise, I still love the show. I just feel like they’ve stalled for a bit after a solid season 2.
