Will continue watching, although we are thisclose to erasing it from the DVR list.
I did have to laugh in the “alternate universe” where the hit show in NYC was “Dogs”, as per the taxi sign rip-off of Cats. (You needed to freeze the screen to see it, as it was so brief.)
Otherwise, this is getting a bit tedious - from one universe to another…seems like it is going to be a bit tiring, plus - not what the show started off to be: supposedly an X-Files of sorts with multiple variations of odd things - not just one v e r y long subplot of warp travel.
Olivia regains her memory
FauxLivia is found out, but is already realizing that most/all she’s been taught about our universe is false and actively begins to work against Walternate
Season finale will have another showdown, where only one Olivia comes out of it - and we’re not sure which one.
There’s some talk here about Olivia regaining her memories. I thought the whole thing with the imaginary Peter meant that she did recover her memories.
Olivia is actively fighting the blood transfusion cocktail that is reprogramming her memories. The fact that she saw Peter means she has not reached the titular Plateau, the point of no return.
I thought the storytelling was excellent. They really explained the flashing diamond sign well, usually people get confused and resort to asking the forums.
I also enjoy the subtleties in the alt universe. I notice the main Fringe guys wear these odd earrings that clip on. But then I saw other govt agents are wearing them too, including Astrid. And one scene showed Astrid wearing the clip earring, but the actress had pierced ears.
So I thought maybe it was an error since I didn’t recall any women in the alt universe wearing earrings.
Although actually, the blonde woman who got hit by the bus was wearing earrings, along with another black woman in the background (different scene). But it’s interesting how this show made me explore that path.
Is that what it said? I thought it said ARUSA, like it had been between USA and someplace starting with Ar- (Argentina?).
Very strange that pens are a rarity over in the red-verse. I mean, yeah, maybe they have all that awesome tech so they can go paperless, but how you gonna leave a note on the fridge or something mundane like that? I mean, I suppose they could still have pencils or something, but it still seemed pretty odd, unless there was some sort of ink shortage (like the coffee shortage).
Although pens are a rarity, paper is not. There was a stack of newspapers for sale in the street scene. Maybe the OP was thinking of Star Wars, as there is no paper in the Star Wars universe.
I’m unspoiling the guess for how the season ends, since it’s not a spoiler.
Doubtful, IMO. Mainly because what she’s been told isn’t lies. Our universe did in fact totally fuck their universe up, thanks to Walter. Their whole Fringe division exists solely to deal with the aftermath of Walter stealing Peter, and no doubt countless thousands have lost their lives being encased in amber because of him.
I seem to recall a scene where Walter was in a car in the alternate universe driving by a huge area that had been devastated because of the instability in the fabric of their reality that he caused.
No way does Fauxlivia ever join our side. We aren’t misunderstood. In her universe, we really are the bad guys.
Our Walter didn’t do any of that intentionally. And we are not waging war with the other side. Walternate has legitimate reasons to hate Walter, but trying to destroy our universe instead of working together to fix the problem is wrong. Maybe Fauxlivia will realize that, but I doubt it.
Not every mortal enemy need have malicious intent against you to make them a mortal enemy. We are effectively their Cuban Missile Crisis just by virtue of being able to cross over and destabilize the fabric of their reality.
Or to put it another way, imagine the Soviets had accidentally nuked, say, a dozen major US cities in the 80s when a scientist running a test of the system accidentally launched a bunch of missiles. Would we have accepted “he had no bad intent” as an explanation and just ignored it?
But Walternate is trying to make it seem like we’re at war, and the only one who’s doing the attacking is him and his shape-shifters. Walter did a lot of damage, but it was a one time deal. Unless the portals that David Jones opened up also did damage.
At any rate, we’re not at war with the other side and I think Walternate knows that. And frankly spending time in our universe Fauxlivia should see that we aren’t the monsters that Walternate makes us out to be. Fauxlivia seems to be good little soldier who just mindlessly follows orders and has no compunction about destroying our universe.
