From Beautiful Downtown Burbank - Gary Owens dead at 80.

RIP, Gary.
“That’s right, Bob. Donna’s “Open For Business.” Now excuse me, but I’m next.”

He was touched by the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate.

Open For Business

He was another Dick Clark in that he’d been around forever and yet he never seemed to age a day!

The American Eagle squadron flies in the Missing Man formation today.

VOICE ACTOR GHOOOOST

Just kidding, great voice actor. He will be missed.

Damn. Great voice.

Remember his from Laugh-In, of course, which was the first and practically only thing I encountered him in.
I have an audiobook of his reading of Richard Shenkman’s Legends, Lies, and Cherished Myths of American History. His voice is wonderful, but at times he sounds as if he’s reading it sight unseen, and at other times he sounds as if he disagrees with Shenkman.

I just learned of Gary Owens’ death today. He was the announcer for Antenna TV and I saw a placard saying “In Memoriam”. I’ve been a fan of his since his “Laugh-In” days. He was a great announcer and comic. I have the DVD of the movie “Comic Book: The Movie”. One of the special features is of Gary hosting a panel of voice actors at one of the San Diego ComicCons. He was surrounded by such colleagues as Maurice LaMarche, Jim Cummings, Billy West, Rob Paulsen, and Jess Harnell. A veritable “Who’s Who” of animated voice talent.

A classic blooper from Gary:
