From Mattress to Door Knob--What's Your Time?

1 hr & 45 minutes

I’m NOT a morning person. Thank heavens Mr. Adoptamom leaves before I ever think of getting up.

Up at 6ish. Dr. Pepper, cigs and newspaper until 7ish when I wake up the kids. Into the shower, clothes, hair and face by 7:45. In the interim, the kids wake, eat breakfast, get dressed and leave me completely alone until it’s time to leave the house. By then, I’m awake and able to converse without biting anyone.

Doesn’t set alarm.

Ignores alarm when it does go off.
Who set it?

If worthy of response, ignores again and sleeps for another hour or two.

What did you want?

Bed to doorknob: An hour if I’m in a panicked rush, an hour and a half if I’m only in a rush.

Get out of bed (the times change, as I’m a uni student.) & into wheelchair

Take pills with milk and maybe eat something quickly

Use toilet

Clean contacts (I should do it the night before, but I usually don’t)

Brush teeth

Wash face (I’m one of those “shower the night before” freaks. Yes, I have cooties, thank you.)

Put on bra, shirt while in wheelchair

Get on bed, put on lacy underthings, socks, splints, pants, sneakers

Get off bed, go to bathroom to insert contacts

Brush hair

I could probably get it down to 50 minutes if I cleaned my contacts the night before and wore only dresses.

This is my usual schedule:

6:15-6:30- Alarm goes off. Lie in bed for 15 minutes.
6:30-6:40- Get out of bed, go to bathroom to brush teeth and shave
6:40-6:50- Shower
6:50-6:55- Get dressed
6:55-7:10- Breakfast
7:10-7:15 Grab keys and other things to take to work, head for door.
7:30- Arrive at work

This is my “holy shit, I overslept!” schedule:

6:45-6:50 Get out of bed, quickly brush teeth, hell with the shave
6:50-7:00 Shower
7:00-7:05 Get dressed
7:05-7:15 Eat quick breakfast (if time permits) go out the door

I have to straighten my hair, but I take night classes this summer so it isn’t a problem. I take a shower at 2, and blow dry my hair and put it up in rollers. I’m out the door by 4:30. But, when my hairs already straight, it only takes me about 30-45 minutes

After hitting the snooze twice, I’m up at 7:20.

Let dogs out, turn on iron, shower, iron clothes, feed dogs, dress, let one dog in, other dogs stay out, make sure cats have food & water and leave at 7:45. If I iron and shower the night before it’s 10 minutes less.

StG

6:30: alarm goes off.
6:45: drag myself to the shower
7:15: breakfast
7:20: out the door
8:00: arrive at work

I want to win the lotto!!

TGIF

Hmm…let me think…well, I…

  • wake up at 1 - 2 PM,
  • gather my flip flops and then it’s out for a walk with my pup,
  • take a shower or bath,
  • get dressed,
  • gather my running pack,
  • suit up the dog,
  • meet up with my SO (sometimes he’s too tired to meet),
  • drive to an interesting running destination,
  • run a quick two - four miles (sometimes we play tennis instead),
  • drive back home,
  • shower,
  • eat (BBQing before work is sometimes nice),
  • and be ready for work all by 5:30 PM.

So…that would make it a full 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours…depending on the day, of course.

BTW, Minlokwat, I like the title of your post…very catchy.

4:24 Hit snooze
4:35 Silence alarm and shuffle to bathroom
4:45 Take wardrobe and coffee and food to computer to get ready whilst surfing
5:15 Wake and dress child
5:25 out the door to sitter’s
6:00 begin work

Mattress to doorknob-50 minutes

The instances where I compress this feat into 1/3 hour after the sitter calls at 5:40 and screams on the phone machine for me to WAKE UP are legendary. There oughta be an Olympic category for it!

Technically I can be ready in about ten minutes, but nobody really wants that BadBaby around.

6 am- Ear drum shatteringly loud music deliberately set on an annoying AM station jolts me out of bed.
6:15- Makeup’s done, cats have drunk their fill and frolicked in the sink
6:20- Breakfast shake and vitamins swallowed
6:20 to 7- Read a book and listen to music
7:10- I’m dressed, toofs brushed, and doing a makeup re-touch, hair wrestled into submission
7:22- Sippy cup filled, tote bag packed, shoes on, cats shooed out of bedroom, out the door.

I work the midnight shift so it’s to bed at about 9:00 am, up at about 3 or 4 or 5, whenever, and then out the door by 11:30.

So that’s about what, 8 or 9 hours?

I usually give myself an hour, but I’m usually ready (showered, shaved, dressed) within 30 minutes.

In an rush I can be out the door in five.

Half an hour.

Up at 5:30, shower, dress, take care of the cats, and I’m in the car around 6:00. I have breakfast at work.

If I’m going for speed, I’ve gone from asleep to shaved, showered, dressed, out the door in less than ten minutes.

But usually, about an hour. Of course, since it’s summer break now, and I’m not working, things slow down a little. Been up for 2 1/2 hours now, and haven’t gotten around to getting dressed or eating.

HA! SEVEN minutes.

Up at around 7:33am, out of the house by 7:40am. I wear a uniform to school (I can get dressed in about two to three minutes) and I have just enough time to eat and leave.

30 minutes.

I thought this thread was about how long are you supposed to wait before you leave after you had sex.

Alarm goes off sometime between 9:40 and 9:50. Snooze until some time between 10 and 10:20. Then out of bed to bathroom to read a random magazine for 10-15 minutes. After that, showering, shaving, toothbrushing, dressing takes 30 minutes, and then I’m out the door.

It usually takes me about twenty to twenty-five minutes. I depends on if I need to shave that morning or if I’m really groggy when the alarm goes off. That’s enough time for me to use the toilet, shower, brush teeth, comb hair, get dressed, fix a soda, take medicine, and toss the newspaper up to the front door.

This summer, I’ve been getting up at 6:00 a.m. and leaving for work about 6:20 to 6:25. I usually make it into the office about 7:05 to 7:20 depending on traffic.

ARRGGH, (where’s the I’m so ashamed smilie?), now THAT was some clumsy keyboarding/mousing!!!

Anyway…From 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

Depending upon how long the dog takes out in the yard, the first thing I have to do is stumble down to the backyard door and let her out.
